Though he made his debut with the film Dillagi in 1999, it was Monsoon Wedding that catapulted him to stardom. Parvin won critical appreciation for his work in Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara and Khosla Ka Ghosla. He played a small role in My Name Is Khan and now Parvin, who is also an underwater photographer, is all set to make his debut as a director with the forthcoming film Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande
