Meet Buraaq, the first Muslim superhero -a new entrant in the comic book universe.

Meet Buraaq, the first Muslim superhero -a new entrant in the comic book universe. He has super strength, dons a red domino mask along with a red and white costume. He comes with the punchline, “One Man One Mission“ where the mission is to foster relations between the West and the Islamic World by serving humanity. Buraaq is the brainchild of American Muslim artists Kamil and Adil Imtiaz. “We got tired with the propaganda that shows Muslims as villains. We saw an influx of superhero movies and the idea of Buraaq was born. We want to dispel the misconceptions surrounding Islam,“ says Kamil.
There's a stark resemblance between the superhero's name with that of US President Barack Obama. “The names might sound the same, but are different. In Islam, Buraaq was Prophet Mohammed's horse who took him to the heavens,“ says Adil.
