Ranveer’s a serial dater?

http://media2.intoday.in/indiatoday/images/stories//2011july/ranveer-singh-anushka-sharma_070411110615.jpgHere’s a lesser known fact about actor Ranveer Singh. Yes, he knew one of the staffers from filmmaker Aditya Chopra’s team, who forwarded his portfolio to Aditya, but Ranveer was at the unlikeliest of places when he got the call from Aditya’s team informing him that he has bagged a lead role in Band Baja Baarat in which he made his debut. Ranveer revealed this to one of his fans, Retika (in the pic), on the sets of a reality show recently. “Back in the days when Ranveer was just another boy he seemed to have been a little unfocused. Spilling the beans on Ranveer’s dating woes, his best friend Shanu revealed a rather quirky fact of Ranveer’s first film. When he bagged the audition for the lead role instead of being at production house office, apna Ranveer was busy on a romantic date!” says a source from the production house.

Jacqueline dances to her dad's tunes!

The actor's father is a former DJ in Bahrain, and has even taught her some tricks of the trade

Actor Jacqueline Fernandez's short-lived disappointment, when she was out from the Krrish sequel came to an end when she replaced actor Sonakshi Sinha in the multi-starrer film Race 2. But for Jacqueline, apart from acting, it's music that has been really close to her heart; and this particular trait she has inherited from her father.
A source reveals a little known fact about the actor. Hardly does anyone know that Jacqueline's father was a former DJ at a nightclub in Bahrain! The source says, "Jacqueline's father has always been an avid music lover and his passion for music made him pursue it as a profession. His profession led him churn out foot-tapping music at various night clubs in Bahrain."
Confirming this, Jacqueline says, "As a child I loved to watch my dad mix music. Every combination that he used to come up with sounded so melodious to the ears."
On learning some tricks from her father the actor adds, "I would try my hand at it a few times, but nothing could beat the way my father used to spin the track." Though her father doesn't play at nightclubs anymore, it will always remain his first love.
"Jacqueline's father later on retired as a DJ and now has his own event management company to look after in Bahrain," the source further adds.
Now we know where daddy's little girl gets her moves and grooves from and if given a chance the actor apparently will be more than happy to DJ too!

The actor's statue at Madame Tussauds is one of the 'most kissed' statues according to a latest list released by the Museum officials

Hrithik doesn't mind this kiss!

Actor Hrithik Roshan's wax statue at Madame Tussaud's has sneaked its way past its Hollywood counterparts to emerge among the top 10 'most kissed statues' in the museum. Though the official press statement of the museum is yet to come, a source confirmed that he has indeed made it to the top 10. Incidentally, last year actor Shah Rukh Khan had made it to the list of top 10.
"Madame Tussauds releases a list every year about the top 10 most kissed statues in their museum. Last year, SRK's statue was among the top 10. This year though the official press release has yet to come. Their survey shows that Hrithik is among the top 10 most kissed statues," says a source.
Incidentally, even though the museum officials only keep a total count, sources say that at least 20 per cent of the kissers are guys and the rest are women, mostly under the age of thirty.
"The girls and kids just love him and his popularity has been growing globally thanks to his reality show and also the fact that kids love him as Krrish and girls for his sex appeal. I think it is for the first time that a statue in its first year has been among the top 10 most kissed wax works," the source adds.
Hrithik has been informed about this 'feat' by his staff, but sources close to the star said that he won't talk about it unless there's an official press release from the actor.
"We have informed Hrithik and he is happy, but he won't react unless Madame Tussauds officially informs him about it (they have already informed him about the feat through unofficial channels)," a staff member says.

Hrithik’s the youngest!
Hrithik’s wax statue was thrown open to the public on 20th January 2011. His Dhoom look was selected as the look of the statue. He is the youngest male actor from India to be honoured by Madame Tussauds. Roshan was completely involved in the creation of the figure — attending two sittings in Mumbai and London where sculptors captured a catalogue of reference photographs and hundreds of precise measurements. Hirthik also donated the red shirt and dark blue jeans his figure is wearing. The figure took four months to make at a cost of around £150,000.

Actor Priyanka Chopra, who is away in LA, sends wishes to her favourite pop star, Lady GaGa for her debut performance in the Capital today

Actor Priyanka Chopra is away in the US, recording her first music album and hobnobbing with some of the biggest musicians in the West. There were also reports of her collaborating with pop star Lady GaGa for a special song.
Priyanka who had met Lady GaGa on her last trip to New York was super-excited about having met her favourite musician. Shortly after her visit, speculations were rife that she would perform at the Indian leg of Lady GaGa's concert, but looks like PC is not even going to get to meet her. Priyanka was waiting to catch up with her in India, but now that GaGa is here for her debut performance in the Capital, Priyanka is away in LA.

Spooked in the city

It's Hallo'weekend'! Here's how the city's gearing to have a boo-tiful time...

No other occasion but Halloween gives you a licence to look scarily sexy! While the catwoman look was the popular one last year, this time around it's the vampire get-up that's a la mode (thanks to Twilight and Vampire Diaries). Celebrity make-up artist Reema Sablok elaborates, "Don the vampire look with tight corset, teamed up with red lipstick and smoky eyes," says Reema. "To make it more dramatic, wear an old white dress and mark it with a blood strain, paint your lips red and let the lipstick bleed. You could even try the fangs," she adds.
Designer duo Ridhi and Sidhi Mapxencar have their special halloween designs — black jackets, blazers, dresses and gowns. "You can never go wrong with black. Also red and other dark colours are good fits for Halloween. Since nobody is judging you, go for robes, exaggerated capes, flowy sleaves… Accesorise your dress with a lot of bling and goth elements like skeleton, bones, etc," suggests Sidhi. To help you look spooky and scary, fashion designer Ayesha has launched a special range of accessories which includes filigree earrings, trinket hairclips, bands, bulb and lamp neck pendants, blingy bracelets, black scarves and hats. Inglot too has a special series of wild and whacky eyelashes that you can opt for.
While you decide what to transform into — witches, ghouls, vampires, mummies or goblins — here's a look at what the city clubs are up to:
Bonobo bar, Bandra, offers some intense scary fun with its spooky theme. "It'll be filled with witches, mummies and bats. You can pose with them and get a picture clicked in the photo studio installed at the venue," says Anup of Bonobo. "The visuals too will be taken care of with witches and skeletons dancing around. We also have make-up artists to give you the perfect Halloween get-up along with some props like rusty nails, fangs, swords, etc." The Velvet Lounge (Renaissance Hotel) will have vampires serving you the theme-based drinks as you dance amidst a setting of skeletons, pumpkins and bloodcurling masks. Puran Nayak of Hawaiian Shack says, "We've got skeletons, spider webs, werewolves, coffins, wizards, pumpkins, the grim reaper and witches to decorate the place. There'll also be special sound effects."

Kim throws a party for Vikram Chatwal

Reality show star Kim Kardashian upped the glam tempo for good friend, Indian hotelier Vikram Chatwal's 40th birthday bash. She apparently co-hosted the party at Romera in New York and could be heard gushing about her Dubai trip. Clearly, the niggling worries in her wedding to sportstar Kris Humphries was the last thing on her mind. "My next stop is India," she was quoted as saying. Vikram, who was accompanied by his wife, Priya, called Kim a "really good friend" and that he looked forward to working with her on a charity project in India.

Following the fiasco in Delhi and angry fans, shadows hover over rock band Metallica's performance in Bengaluru today. So, what went wrong?

Outraged!

Following the fiasco in Delhi and angry fans, shadows hover over rock band Metallica's performance in Bengaluru today. So, what went wrong?

The cancellation of rock band Metallica's debut performance in Delhi evoked outrage from the 2000 odd music aficionados and fans, who had gathered to witness the band perform. The concert scheduled for Friday evening, was first postponed to Saturday 4 pm and later cancelled altogether. This triggered a riot among fans, who were waiting for over two hours; they trashed equipment, broke speakers and damaged the stage.
Metallica gave their version on their official page, which read, "We arrived in Delhi on Friday very excited and ready to play our first show ever in India at the F1 Rocks concert. However, immediately at the end of our afternoon press conference at a hotel near the venue, we were notified that there was a serious question as to whether the show could proceed with regard to the safety of the concert audience. The promoters of the show determined that there was a failure of a security barricade in front of the stage that could not be adequately repaired and reluctantly announced the postponement of the show until Saturday. Unfortunately, on such short notice the promoters were unable to secure a permit for a show on Saturday. Therefore, the organisers announced that we would not be able to play in Delhi."
While the Delhi leg of the gig has been cancelled, it is to be seen if it'll affect the Bengaluru gig today. Celebs like Farhan Akhtar, Siddhartha Mallya expressed their disappointment on the cancellation of the concert in Delhi.
Actor Neha Dhupia was scheduled to go for the concert, but she changed her mind the last minute. "When bands of that stature come down, their contracts are water-tight. If they aren't followed to the T, bands often pull out and cancel their gigs," she said. Actor Gul Panag, too, was disappointed with the turn of events. "Whatever the issue, cancelling a performance is simply not done," she said. Vishal of music composer Vishal-Shekhar duo too reacted strongly. "It is shameful for a band to cancel their performance. Whatever be the reason, had the band at least showed up on stage and made a public announcement, the crowd would have been more understanding," he tweeted.

Akshay injured

A bullet grazed the actor's right eye on the sets of a film

It was a close call for actor Akshay Kumar — a bullet grazed his right eye by just half an inch when he was shooting for one of his upcoming films. The incident took place on Friday night at Filmistan studios in Goregaon. There are varying versions to the incident, but it states that the bullet that hit the actor was from the gun of one of the guards present on the sets. The guard, inform sources, was sitting opposite Akshay with the gun on his lap and the safety catch open.
"He had kept the gun on his lap and joking, slapping his thighs, when his hands accidentally the trigger. Akshay was shooting for the film within the range. Akshay didn't realise what hit him, till his action director figured out that it was a bullet," says a source. The bullet that grazed past Akshay's right eye was later found on the floor of the sets.
Another version, said to be the official one, has emerged that it was a freak accident involving a mistake by a staff in action director Mahindra Verma's team. Though real bullets are not used in film shootings, Verma was quick to point out that the scene required a real bullet be fired.
"There was an action scene where a bullet is fired and Akshay, as usual, refused the double. Unfortunately, the level of gunpowder in the bullet had increased by a minuscule level and everyone was oblivious to this fact," said a senior technician. The more gunpowder meant that the gun fired accidentally, hurting Akshay who was supposed to duck it.
"When the bullet was fired, Akshay immediately pulled the drape of the table for protection. But due to the increased gunpowder content, the fire tore through the drape and burnt near his right eye. It is a serious injury for it could severely injured his eye," the technician added.
Mahindra was 'immensely sorry' about the unfortunate incident and has "apologised to Akshay numerous times for the past 24 hours."

Look who wants to dance with Ash's baby

That's on the wishlist of Hollywood legend Mickey Rooney's son, choreographer Michael — a die-hard fan of Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan

There's an unusual addition to the list of admirers of B-Town beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and it's Hollywood's legendary child actor Mickey Rooney's son, the internationally renowned Hollywood choreographer Michael Rooney.
Michael is very keen to work with Aishwarya someday. "I am totally in awe of Aishwarya Rai," says Michael as he struggles to get her name right, "I really want to work with her." When told that Ash is pregnant with her first child, the choreographer was overwhelmed. "Oh my God! I want to send her and her baby all the luck, lots of happiness and warm wishes," he said. "It's a boy or a girl?" asked the choreographer adding, "I just hope the baby is healthy, and hope s/he grows up to be a dancer (laughs)…who I shall work with someday."
He's not just smitten with Aishwarya, but everything to do with Bollywood. He confesses to being addicted to watching Hrithik Roshan starrer Koi Mil Gaya. "I saw this movie Koi Mil Gaya some five-six years ago. I saw it once and I saw it again and again… I was totally mesmerized… What movements! The dance forms were so happy and swift. I thoroughly enjoyed it," says Michael. "I want to choreograph for Bollywood now," says the choreographer who wants to direct musical soon. Who knows it may even And who knows, we might see Ash starring in it!
The choreographer who has made several stars dance – the latest ones being actors Jason Segel and Amy Adams dance in the upcoming film The Muppet – had choreographed the popular Kylie Minogue's Can't Get You Out of My Head video, and also some popular award winning videos like B Jork's It's Oh So Quiet and Fat Boy Slim's Praise You.

Going GaGa on Indian streets

Shutterbugs caught pop icon Lady GaGa shopping at the Dilli Haat handicraft market in Delhi. On her first ever trip to India, she is set to perform at the F1 event today. Though the tickets to her concert are priced at Rs 40,000, they're apparently all sold out. Actor Arjun Rampal, the man behind getting Lady Gaga to India, said, "This is big, it can't get any bigger than Lady GaGa. We had to do a lot of negotiations before we got her on board. If we had a bigger venue, more people could be accommodated." So who will be going from here to watch GaGa? The guest list, apparently, includes Bollywood celebrities, society folks and Arjun's friends. "People expected to be present at the gig includes names like Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, Mehr Rampal, Karan Johar, Kunal Kapoor, Chunkey Pandey, Kareena Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Hrithik Roshan, Atul Kasbekar, Jaccky Bhagnani, Preity Zinta, Farhan Akhtar, etc," says a source.

Bollywood's Actresses Diwali Bombshells

Bollywood's Actresses Diwali Bombshells

Ahead, Tinsel town's most explosive firecrackers. Proceed with caution

Whatever size she be, Kareena is a heavyweight in the hotness department.

Doubters need to check out her red sari clad booty in Chammak Challo. Bebo has already notched up one superhit this year with Bodyguard opposite Salman, and she's set to make it a brighter Diwali with SRK in RA.One.

Vidya Balan's Silk Smitha curves have generated enough heat to keep The Dirty Picture headline-worthy and that's even before the biopic's released.

She's going to be a nuclear reaction. We can't wait.

Careful, Katrina Kaif sets off smoke alarms.

Movie star Barbie followed up her Sheila sizzle with superhit turns in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. She's among this year's hottest patakas.

Volcanic Ash: Mama-to-be Aishwarya is all fire under the icy exterior. She's going to be giving up movie stardom for mommyhood for a while, but there's no keeping this girl down.

Weapon of Mass Destruction: Priyanka Chopra has had an eventful year breaking up with boyfriend Shahid and making up with arch-rival Kareena.

She's also going to be chasing good friend SRK on screen in the sequel to Don. Watch out for fireworks.

Deepika was all set to be scorching in Dum Maaro Dum but that turned out to be somewhat of a damp squib. What can we say, Zeenie baby is a hard act to follow. The Dimpled One did, however, put herself right back in the headlines with a very public kiss with real life beau, Siddhartha Mallya.

Bombs Away: Bollywood's hot favourite Bipasha Basu is now a single lady after breaking up with longtime boyfriend John.

There might still be a happy ending in store for her, since she has a movie with Hollywood beefcake Josh Hartnett and may or may not be currently dating Shahid Kapur.

Hotness Hall of Famer Malaika is an entire fireworks factory by herself. Mrs Arbaaz Khan is the yummiest mummy around and she's made item numbers classy.

Pretenders to her throne are a dime a dozen, but few can compete with Malaika's Munni appeal.

Nargis Fakhri is a chocolate bomb waiting to explode. Now that the Rockstar gang is in full publicity mode, Nargis' debut is among the most anticipated in Bollywood, even without all those Ranbir rumours.

Traverse through her Twitter profile to catch a glimpse of her candid photographs. She's a stunner even without make-up, there's no doubt about that.

Slinky Minx Mallika Sherawat is a rocket, and a noisy one at that. A red carpet appearance at the Oscars, a hop swivelling turn as Jalebi Bai and an item number in the Tamil remake of Dabangg - Mallika's going places.

Love her or hate her, you have to admire her spunk.

Southern sizzler Asin is a fireball from down under.

She has the distinction of having debuted opposite one Khan (Aamir) in smash hit Ghajini, and followed it up with a role opposite another Khan (Salman) in second smash hit, Ready.

Sonakshi Sinha is the newest phooljhari in town. Shotgun Jr. is still just a film old but the fallout from Dabangg has made sure she remains on Bollywood's hot list.

Bodacious Shilpa Shetty should come with a flammable warning. Marriage may have put her out of sight, but she's very much on our minds.

Reality star, IPL team owner, fitness guru - Shilpa's worn many hats. She'll be back and with a bang.

Preity Zinta comes giftwrapped in sugar and spice. She's been away from Bollywood for a while but now is back and looking to carve a small screen career with a chat show.

Giselli Monteiro was the best kept secret in Love Aaj Kal. Jaws dropped when she was revealed to be a Brazilian model rather than the homegrown Punjabi lass she played. Her career hasn't yet taken wing, but given that she has no difficulty slipping into quintessentially Indian roles, we have no doubt that Giselli's filmy future is anything but bright.

Lovely Dia Mirza is a heaven-sent hottie.

Along with Zayed Khan, she recently produced and starred in Love Breakups Zindagi. Will this finally be her star making role?

The sun never sets on Chitrangada Singh's dusky beauty.

She starred in Yeh Saali Zindagi this year and will be appearing in Desi Boyz next.

When you debut opposite Salman Khan, there really is no looking back. Zarine Khan was written off as a Katrina lookalike after Veer, but her miniskirted turn in Ready's Character Dheela number bounced her right back onto the the It Girl map.

Shruti Haasan is so nuclear she might cause radioactive fallout

She's been around for quite a while now, as a popular VJ and host. Her acting credentials weren't anything to write home about until Aamir Khan's production, Delhi Belly, where she played Imran Khan's fiancée.

Shehnaz's bold, sexually provocative act, along with her brilliant comic timing, was one of the highlights of the blockbuster. Her resume also boasts of a screenwriting credit for Yash Raj Films' Luv Ka The End, which marked Shraddha Kapoor's (Shakti Kapoor's daughter) debut.

Hollywood's Retro Darlings

Style Inspiration from Hollywood's Retro Darlings

From bombshells like Amber Heard and Beyonce Knowles to Hollywood's sweethearts like Zooey Deschanel and Taylor Swift, we've deconstructed the keys elements of retro style. If you're looking to develop a signature aesthetic and love vintage-inspired looks, you've come to the right place. From shades to shorts, updos to eyeliner, we've honed in on the best of retro star style.
 Retro Hairstyles

Let's start from the top. Looking to vamp up your 'do? Try Duffy's sweet half-up style with parted bangs and a dainty bow clip for added charm. Dita Von Teese, on the other hand, is the queen of retro glam and loves to vamp it up with side-parted shining '50s ringlets. Amber Heard shows off a voluminous twisted updo for the perfect bombshell look—learn how to remake this 'do with your hair here!

Retro Beauty

It appears all celebs are taking inspiration from the legendary Brigitte Bardot and trying out the cateye. There are countless variations on this sexy '60s makeup look. While Alexa Chung's signature cateye is created with a delicate thin line on her top lid, style chameleon Beyonce Knowles likes to bring out her retro side with a dramatic winged design. Country sweetheart, Taylor Swift, loves to play up her '50s looks with a bold red lip and fluffy false lashes.

Retro Shades

An easy and affordable way to add retro edge to your look is with a glam pair of shades. From big '60s Jackie O sunglasses to the '50s cateye, get playful with your eye wear. We loved Olivia Palermo's Fashion Week take on the cateye glasses. Experimenting with new shapes for your face? Try cheap chic stores like Forever 21 or H&M to test out the style. Bonus points for wearing them with red lipstick!

Retro Hats

It's rare to see women wearing hats these days, but at one point it was the perfect way to show elegance and personal style. What better way to channel the sweet retro look than by adorning your 'do with a decorative hat? Royals like Kate Middleton have mastered the exquisite accessory (may we refresh your memory with the Royal Wedding's headwear?) while modern fashionistas like Kelly Osbourne and Marissa Miller have also done some trail blazing to bring back the hat.

Retro Clutches

Options for retro handbags are limitless. Hit up any antique store and you'll find a plethora of elegant vintage clutches and shoulder bags. We loved Freida Pinto's lipstick red box clutch, as well as Emma Stone's olive silk envelope clutch. Also: You can add a playful pop of print to any look with a polka-dot frame clutch like Liv Tyler's.

Retro Day Dresses

Nothing screams retro style like the perfect day dress. Zooey Deschanel's closet is a vault full of these '50s inspired numbers. Bright colors and a fit-and-flare silhouette define the actress' signature style. Taylor Swift is another excellent resource of inspiration, from polka-dots to lace, she never strays from her throw-back aesthetic. Kirsten Dunst is another retro darling who wowed us in her mustard chiffon Chloe dress.

Retro Cocktail Dresses

Going to a cocktail party and looking for a sweet way to amp up the elegance of your evening look? Fortunately Hollywood's red carpets are rife with fantastic inspirational looks for every vintage sweetheart. Rachel Bilson's Louis Vuitton dress at the Met Gala featured a '50s flared silhouette with a matching belt and wide straps. Anne Hathaway's organza Carven dress was ultra-simple yet perfectly flattering while Hailee Steinfeld's beaded Peter Pan collar and sleek pencil skirt showed off her sophisticated sense of style.

Retro Coats

Finding a coat that channels the decade of your choosing is a perfect way to add a signature staple to your wardrobe. Try a slim-fitting '40s military inspired coat like Kate Middleton's, a mod '60s design like Kim Kardashian's or a floral '50s evening coat like Rachel Roy's

Retro Tops

Lately stars have been eating up ascot blouses and Peter Pan collars, which are a great way to sweeten up your style with a flashback to the past. Christina Ricci channeled Mad Men with her white silk tie-neck blouse paired with a high-waisted pencil skirt. Katy Perry went for a bright look with a chartreuse lace top and Kourtney Kardashian captured the throw-back aesthetic with her own ensemble from the Kardashian Kollection at Sears.

Retro Jewelry

Another key to vintage-inspired style is the choice of jewelry. Pearls are the perfect addition to a day or night look. Once again, check out your nearest antique shop or flea market to find some steals on authentic vintage pearl necklaces, earrings and bracelets. We loved the styling of Chanel Iman for the Christian Dior show wearing onyx beads. Nicola Roberts made the look her own with a casual tee paired with a flower-adorned choker. Selena Gomez opted to wear a simple single strand of pearls with her black frock for an effortlessly elegant look

Retro Bombshell Date Dresses

Looking for the perfect date night dress to make him drool without loosing your signature aesthetic? We've brought in a few experts. Amber Heard's red carpet looks are an abundant source of inspiration—from her black Vivienne Westwood dress to her backless silver Salvatore Ferragamo number. Reese Witherspoon also blew us away with her royal blue off-the-shoulder corset dress that reminded us of a '60s Playboy Bunny. Meanwhile, Kate Winslet is always taking our breaths away with her curve-hugging dresses, like a sultry polka-dot Stella McCartney frock.

Retro Evening Gowns

If the occasion calls for a more formal look, there are quite a few fabulous directions you can go. Dita Von Teese's waist-cinching Herve L. Leroux black gown is the perfect example as it looks sexy and modern while sticking to a timeless silhouette. Fan Bing Bing made us all envious in her fresh-off-the-runway Jason Wu dress featuring a full pink taffeta ball skirt and a cream-off-the-shoulder bodice. Meanwhile, Michelle Williams worked her pixie-cut with a Marilyn-esque mint lace Christian Dior gown. What do these all have in common? A cinched waist that is both universally flattering and classic.

Retro Pants

Trouser pants are back in full-force, and with a lovely vintage twist! Rachel Bilson's high-waisted ankle-length coral pants exemplify the modernized retro look. We also loved Olivia Palermo's plaid trousers in the same vein of style. The ceaselessly stylish, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, channeled Grease in a pair of skin-tight black cigarette pants for her talk show appearance.

Retro Shoes

As we all know, footwear can make or break any look. We dug up a variety of shoe styles that fit our nostalgic aesthetic. We adored Camilla Belle's white and silver cap-toe pumps that were reminiscent of Old Hollywood. While Mandy Moore's ballet flats will make you feel like Audrey Hepburn and Georgie Henley's oxford heels will be a playfully sophisticated addition to any ensemble.
