ARTIST ALERT

B.R.E.E.D. / Dubstep, EDM

B.R.E.E.D (real name: Ritesh D’Souza) is all set to rock the international charts with his track Atomic Café, which is going to be released on an upcoming compilation on the UK record label, Ministry of Sound. The track will share space alongside some of the biggest names in bass and electronic music including Calvertron, Goldie, MJ Cole, Bassnectar, Xilent, High Rankin, Tantrum Desire, Zedd’s Dead, Noisia, Emalkay, Terravita and many more. “It’s
a big step to have B.R.E.E.D’s name amongst some of the biggest international acts in this scene, thus getting more recognition. With opportunities like this, the chance to make more relationships and connections leads to more international, highlyrecognised releases,” he expressed.
This could lead to spreading his music and name across the globe even further. Things fell in place for him, when he got in touch with bass music producer Calvertron from the UK, who has been pos
itive and supportive
towards B.R.E.E.D. “I sent him Atomic Cafe and he loved it. He said he wanted to release the track on his UK label and even offered to produce his own personal remix of the track, which I was very happy about. A few days later, he sent me a mail saying that the track was also going to be released on the Ministry of Sound label,” he shared.
He defines his music in two words — Future Exotic. In the scene for quite some time, B.R.E.E.D took to dubstep and gave India electronic dance music enthusiasts a reason to celebrate the genre. Ask him how much has the genre caught up in the Indian scene? He replied saying, “Yes, dubstep and bass music genres
have definitely become more popular and explored by EDM and even rock lovers in India. So this is a great change of course!! For the fans of this music, they eagerly come out and support these events and enthusiastically support the Indian artistes promoting these sounds, which is awesome.”
However, he thinks the majority of the “music market” in India is still mostly keen on commercial music and Bollywood music, therefore, limiting the amount of club owners and

venues who are eager to promote the underground sounds. “Especially since it is quite difficult to run a music club/venue in India, the owners and venues generally don’t take chances in the types of music they play, as they of course want to bring in as much of an audience as possible. Therefore, it has grown, but not enough in that the opportunities for venues supporting dubstep and bass music is very limited in India,” he adds.
Atomic Café will feature remixes from Calvertron and Will Bailey. He also has various unreleased tracks line up for his next EP. And will soon be playing at various upcoming music
festivals.
