Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh has fractured the small finger of his left hand while trying to lift co-star Sonam Kapoor. The mishap occurred when he was attempting a stunt for his forthcoming film. Neil, who had injured the same finger earlier, was advised by his doctor not to attempt such stunts. Now, Neil's left hand is in cast for 20 days, though he can continue shooting and his daily activities. According to doctors, the small finger has a fracture and a 'traumatic dislocation' of the finger joint. The unit members heard the finger bone snap when Sonam was still in the air. "Neil was in excruciating pain as we heard his finger snap while doing the stunt. He was supposed to lift Sonam with a hand that had not entirely recovered from earlier injury. He was told not to exert pressure but Neil thought he could risk it," says a unit member. The finger snapped while Sonam was still in the air. Neil immediately hit the floor clutching his finger. Fortunately, the shot was complete. "While the scene came out superb and the filmmakers are in praise of him, Neil is trying his level best to fix the injury soon as he has a hectic schedule ahead. X-rays have been done and doctors have told him he could continue shooting but has to keep his action junkie side at bay," the unit member adds. Apparently Sonam was concerned when Neil's finger snapped and she immediately freed herself from the harness (a precautionary measure used during action sequences) and rushed to his help. "She bonded with Neil big time on the film sets and rushed to his help. Sonam also texted Neil continuously to check on his condition," the unit member added.
