Parsi platter for new year will leave you saying che khoob!

Today is Parsi New Year and the most exciting thing for people today would be a grand Parsi meal. Parsis are great foodies — they love to eat, celebrate and feed people. If you happen to know a Parsi lady well, like I do, you can be assured that she would feed you every time you visit her. She would keep saying 'Khaa ne deekra' and keep adding items on your plate.
As a small way to treat this close-knit Zoroastrian community on their special day, Four Points by Sheraton is hosting a Parsi buffet this evening. The hotel's multi-cuisine restaurant, Asian Kitchen, is trying to ensure that the items on the buffet menu will leave the guests saying, "Che Khoob"! (awesome).
The hotel is laying traditional Parsi recipes to lure this foodie clan on New Year. "The menu includes Patrani Macchi, Dal Dhansak, Salli Murgh, Sabz bu Kaju ki tikki, etc. and many more delicious items. The hotel is offering the buffet for just Rs800, inclusive of taxes, and trying to ensure an interesting experience for all foodies. We have been doing this Parsi food buffet every New Year and it has garnered a great response from people not just from the Zoroastrian community, but others as well," said Ranjeet Nagare, food and beverage manager, Four Points by Sheraton.
The Parsis mostly prefer non-vegetarian dishes — nearly every preparation has some non-vegetarian item in it. Bay leaves and cloves are major ingredients in most of their dishes. "A top favourite is Patraani Macchi, which is usually made from Betki or Basa fish. Bekti is an Indian sweetwater fish while Basa is a Vietnamese fish which is imported to make this dish. This fish is soft and tasty and when made in green masala wrapped with banana leaves, tastes awesome. Since Parsis also prefer fried items, Salli Murg is a good choice; Salli mean potato straws or french fries," said chef Suresh Shetty. Two desserts — Dhoodh Poha and Laganu Custard — are also included in the menu. To complete the meal, there's malpua and caramel custard.
So, what are you waiting for? Get ready to say "Che Khoob" with a delectable menu at Four Points. Wish you all a happy new year!
