'Even cartoon shows are getting mature'
...says actor Juhi Chawla, who will soon be seen chatting up li'l kids on TV
Chat shows are the flavour of the season, and after actors Karan Johar, Simi Garewal, Preity Zinta took to them, it's time for actor Juhi Chawla to join the bandwagon. But the only difference between Juhi's and the rest of the chat shows is that her show will have kids as guests rather than the country's celebrities. A mother of two, the actor is all geared up for her role as a chat show host. Juhi opens up about her kids and latest TV show.
Talking about her new endeavour Badmash Company, she says, "TV is a very big medium today. It has gone through a sea change in last few years. In fact, as a kid I remember Doordarshan was all we could access on TV. But today even 200 channels seem to be less." She adds that TV isn't a new thing for her as she has been a judge on a dance reality show earlier. "However doing a chat show with kids is a challenge and that is what appealed to me. Like other shows, which are supposedly scripted, we couldn't do anything of that sort, as kids are spontaneous in their responses. Besides, as a mother I can connect with the kids much better than I would've 10 years back," reasons Juhi.
Considering that shows on TV are getting mature in content, does she feel these kinds of shows will help? "I think not just serials or reality shows, but even cartoon shows are getting mature in their content. Till recently, I didn't watch Shinchan but I thought it was a good show only to I realis that it wasn't. My kids wanted to speak and behave like him. It's not acceptable, so I got them off that show. I agree that there is a dearth of family shows but shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Li'l champs also exist. My show too will be on the lines where the whole family will be entertained without any apprehension," she adds.
