'Shopping is always fun!'
Laid low by an injury, tennis player Sania Mirza resorts to retail therapy
She's been laid down for quite some time after injuring her knee at a match. Arguably, India's most glamorous tennis player, Sania Mirza admits that these are those rare days when she just lazes around home. Right now — as Sania reveals to After Hrs from Dubai — some of her quality hours in the day are spent with the physiotherapist.
"I can't say that I've spent too many days like these! But when I don't have much to do, I like to laze around at home, watch TV, go out shopping or spend time with my friends. For the last few weeks, I've spent almost four hours a day on my rehab with my physiotherapist, trying to get back to full fitness after my knee surgery," says the player from Dubai. Sania admits that she misses India a lot, and prefers to flit between India and Dubai whenever possible. India and Hyderabad is still home to her more than Dubai. "As a matter of fact, I've probably been spending almost as much time in India post-marriage as I had been doing with my hectic tennis schedule before marriage! I was recently there in Delhi for the Indian F1, and just before that in Hyderabad and Mumbai, so it's not like I'm not there in India at all! In fact I've spent more time in India than in Dubai in the last few months. But when I'm away, of course, I miss my family and friends," she says.
So, what is the other thing that she does with her hubby (Pakistani cricketer Sohaib Malik) away, while she's still recuperating from the injury. Retail therapy, says Sania.
"I do try and keep up with the latest trends and shopping is always fun! In fact, the other day I was at the mall, shopping. There are lots of good places in Dubai. So I don't really limit myself to just one particular shop," she says.
