...says Annu Kapoor, as his show on a music channel completes a year

    Annu Kapoor’s show on music channel Mastiii celebrates its first anniversary today. Called The Golden Era With Annu Kapoor, the channel will showcase classics of the ’40s-’70s era.
    The show is divided into segments that lend insight into the making of the songs, the films, and the lives of the legendary actors and musicians of that era.
    “Indians have always been movie buffs. Be it film stars, film music, dance or acting, the show has everything to induce nostalgia,” said Kapoor, who laments the fate of music in present times. “Even classic movies those days had item numbers which we have included in The Golden Era but those were also very melodious. Some were picturised on Helen and other actresses. On our show, we also we have romantic numbers with significant meaning that are remembered even today. Nowadays we can recall only one line of any song! Those were the real songs... Kisiki Muskurahaton Pe Ho Nisar, Ramaiyya Vastavaiyya, Dil Ka Haal, Aaj Mausam Bada with complete lyrics. Besides melody, there was some great poetry that was simple and yet so meaningful,” adds Kapoor.

    The Golden Era With Annu Kapoor airs tonight between 9 and 10 on Mastiii.
