Actor and stand-up comedian Vir Das married his girlfriend Shivani Mathur in Sri Lanka on October 15. The actor, who was living in for the last five years with Shivani, an event manager, had an intimate ceremony attended by family and close friends. Vir, who returned to Mumbai a week ago, said, “I always wanted my wedding to be without any noise, so I kept it lowkey. We had only 100 people and I enjoyed a lot and drank a lot. We wanted it to be a secret because I'm a private person.“ There was no honeymoon as Vir had to go to to Thailand for his film shoot, so Shivani joined him. He said, “Though I am the comedian, she makes me laugh more than I make her laugh. Even the way we met was funny -she had gatecrashed into my housewarming party . She is honest and grounded, and knows the real me. So I decided to marry her.“ The couple has no plans of starting a family soon. “I still have to go on my honeymoon, how can I think of anything else,“ he laughed.
