Now, exchange of cutesy messages on a social media platform, between Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty and rapper Drake, is making everyone wonder… is there another cross continent romance in the offing?
The post in question has Athiya wishing her dad Suniel Shetty on his birthday. Drake called him ‘legend’ and that led to speculation. Is Athiya the girl behind Drake’s smash hit ‘Kiki, do you love me?’ Actor Varun Dhawan fuelled our imagination further, by commenting on Athiya’s post, which said, “Who knew you were Kiki?”
Following these comments, the actress was bombarded with envious posts from Drake’s female fans across the globe, which he didn’t appreciate. We heard that he even apologised to the actress personally for inadvertently causing the confusion. Gentleman, indeed.
Referring to their supposed online flirting, a friend close to the actress laughed it off saying, “Drake and Athiya are friends. They met each other about a year ago in at a restaurant in London. Athiya was with her friends and Drake was with his. The two hit it off after Drake reached out to Athiya a few days later. They keep in touch and this is not the first time that Drake has commented on Athiya’s posts. Guess Varun’s comment made everyone sit up and take notice, but he was just being funny.”
Our source added, “Drake and Athiya are friends but there is nothing more to that. The Kiki bit is all in good humour. It should not be blown out of proportion.”
While people were surprised to see the Canadian singer wishing Suniel Shetty, the two know each other. Another source added, “Suniel and Drake know each other, but he had no clue what Kiki meant (laughs!)”
