Jyothika Saravanan, born Jyothika Sadanah, is one of Tamil cinema’s most respected actresses. She made her acting debut in the Hindi film Doli Saja Ke Rakhna (1998) and quickly transitioned to Tamil cinema with Vaali (1999), winning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut . Her successful films include Kushi, Kaakha Kaakha, Chandramukhi, and Mozhi — the latter earning her a National Film Award nomination .

She married actor Suriya on 11 September 2006 and took a sabbatical to focus on family. Her triumphant comeback came in 2015 with 36 Vayadhinile, which won her the Tamil Nadu State Film Award and Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress .
