Rana goes to the cops
The actor has decided to spend time with a few investigating officers of the Mumbai police force to learn how they operate
Actor Rana Daggubatti plays a cop in one of his forthcoming films and he has decided to take his role rather seriously. The actor has apparently sought some time off from his director Ram Gopal Varma so that he can work as a trainee with the Mumbai police force to understand how they function for his role in Department. "It was Rana who suggested Ramu that he should take sometime off before he starts shooting and Ramu agreed to delay the film by a few days," says a source.
Rana has apparently decided to shadow a few of the best investigating officers and has asked the cops to allow him to accompany them to crime scenes to get a feel of how they operate in real life. Buzz is that Rana has already spent some time with the cops in Hyderabad, but decided that his experience is incomplete unless he spends some time with the Mumbai police.
"He wants to go through their investigation process with them. He feels that there's a lot of stuff that is not shown on the screens and he wants to bring in all that in his character. Also, his character is supposed to have a special action that he does repeatedly (an action which becomes synonymous with the character like the stammering in Shahid's character in Kaminey) which he will decide after he spends time with them," the source adds.
Rana has apparently got the clearance from the Mumbai Police Commissioner on "special grounds" but doesn't want to talk about it since he has been sworn to secrecy. "He will talk about it once it is done. All he wants, is his character to be an authentic one," the source ends.
