MEET THE 'STATES'MEN!

Rooting for corporates seems passe for actors Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, who are now rooting for governments.
Last month, Aamir stood up for the health ministry along with South superstar Rajinikanth, while this month he'll be campaigning for the railways with best friend, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. "We have decided to rope in Sachin Tendulkar, Aamir Khan and Jackie Shroff as brand ambassadors to sensitise road users about safety rules at level crossings," said Railways Minister Dinesh Trivedi.
Fresh on the heels of being declared the brand ambassador for West Bengal at the Kolkata Film Festival, actor Shah Rukh Khan will now inaugurate the upcoming International Film Festival (IFFI) of India in Goa. "Shah Rukh will flag off the 42nd edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. He would formally inaugurate the 10-day extravaganza on November 23 at Ravindra Bhavan auditorium in Margao," said IFFI Director Shankar Mohan.

Previously known to endorse only brands, the new strategy has not gone unnoticed. According to a source close to Shah Rukh, with his brand endorsement portfolio full, the actor apparently thought that it would be a good idea to network with state government.
"After the good response from West Bengal, Shah Rukh's now ready to endorse Goa government. This is vital networking for him as he's a filmmaker now," says a source close to Shah Rukh.
As for Aamir, his strategy seems closely timed with his chat show. "Nobody knows if they are linked or not. But it is true that Aamir's chat show is about spreading awareness and sensitising people. The awareness about child health and railways is in the same spirit as that of his chat show," another source adds.
