Entrepreneur Raj Kundra has a lot of professional commitments at hand, but actor-wife Shilpa Shetty’s pregnancy is priority number one. He is currently amidst setting up his sporting league, which he co-owns with actor Sanjay Dutt, scheduled to take place in the city on March 11. Close on the heels of the news is that singer-actor Jennifer Lopez is scheduled to come to Mumbai for the event, but Raj promises there are more names in the offing. “The response we have got for the league is just unbelievable. The line-up for the entertainment artistes is stellar and we are calling the entire concept ‘sportainment’ as we have combined sport with entertainment,” he says. Besides the sporting league, he is also busy with his T20 cricket team’s preparation for the new season that will begin in April.
Amidst all this, he is most excited about wife Shilpa’s pregnancy. Talking animatedly about the impending fatherhood, he says, “We are gearing up to begin this new phase of our lives. It has been a lovely journey so far and we are absolutely looking forward to the birth of our child.” He adds that he’s quite pleasantly surprised at the way his wife has been handling her pregnancy. “Shilpa is six months pregnant and is doing absolutely fine by God’s grace. She is glowing and looks even more beautiful than ever before. I’d heard from friends that pregnant women get cranky and demanding, but Shilpa has absolutely no complaints ever. We are in a very happy space.”
Talking about the sex of the baby, Raj is emphatic when he says, “We don’t know and we don’t want to know either. We are happy and just want to have a healthy baby; the sex of the baby is irrelevant. I am looking forward to becoming a father.” Will Shilpa be actively involved with their sporting franchises? “She will be there for most of the Mumbai matches. She can’t fly to other cities obviously, but I’m sure she’ll be there in spirit to cheer us,” said Raj.
