I BELIEVE I’M A MIDDLE-ORDER BATSMAN
He is known for his horror films, and with 1920 Evil Returns, Vikram Bhatt continues his love affair with the genre. While he directed 1920, Bhatt decided to hand over the reins to debutant director Bhushan Patel for the film’s sequel, a tale of mysterious evil, merciless killings and possession.Says the filmmaker, “Over the years, there is a kind of film that the audience associates with my name. A brand has been built with the kind of films I’ve made and I want to keep that up. I have made five horror films and I have had a 100% track record. But I’m not bothered about how this film will fare. I just hope it keeps everyone on the edge of their seats.”
Bhatt, who agrees there is immense pressure to deliver a hit, isn’t really looking forward to join the 100-crore club. “I am a middleorder batsman. Delivering a 100-crore hit each time is the job of the opening batsman. I will come, do my job to the best of my abilities and leave the rest to my audience,” he says. When asked about his next lineup of movies, the filmmaker said he isn’t sure about it but added that Haunted 2 could be in the offing and adds that he wants to produce more films than direct them.
1920 Evil Returns, produced by ASA Productions, releases tomorrow.
