Kalash - Ek Vishwaas, actor Donal Bisht

For Kalash - Ek Vishwaas, actor Donal Bisht switching from a secured and well-paying media job to the glamour industry was certainly not an easy task. When Donal decided to make the big switch her parents weren’t very forthcoming with this decision. Donal says, “I was working for different media houses in New Delhi when I decided to quit a cushy job and seriously take up acting. However, coming to Mumbai was difficult as my parents weren’t supportive of it, as no one from our family knew anyone in this industry and the kind of negative news that we hear about it as an outsider also became a deterrent. It took me nearly four years to convince my parents to send me to Mumbai and at least give acting a serious try. Luckily, they have come around now, so it feels good.”

Talking about her first brush with acting, the Roop - Mard Ka Naya Swaroop actor adds, “During college one of our subjects included filmmaking and I would enact in projects done by my friends. That was the first time I realised I thoroughly enjoy this and in the future would want to give it a shot as it made me happy to be in front of the screen. However, when I started working slowly I realised something was missing even though I had a well-paying and a settled job. That’s when I decided to give acting a try so that I don’t regret not even trying it in the future.”

Initially, Donal would travel between New Delhi and Mumbai to balance her work assignments and auditions. “During those four years, I would often take 2-3 days off from work and come to Mumbai to give auditions. This continued for a few months and soon I got my first show as a lead and since then there has been looking back.”
