The first look of the upcoming web series Heeramandi dropped today, February 18, and it has left us asking for more. Directed by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the show will release soon on Netflix. The makers have now posted a brief clip giving a glimpse of the main characters. The exquisite look of key characters, played by Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Sheikh has been revealed and we are swooning! Notably, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is making his web series debut with Heeramandi.

The teaser video begins with a closer glimpse of the starcast - Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh and Sonakshi Sinha. The actresses look regal in mustard outfits as they sit next to one another. Sonakshi is the only person who is seen standing as she also does a salaam looking at the camera in the end. Earlier, the official Instagram handle of Netflix India shared an update on the series and the caption on it read, "We are excited to announce that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi is coming to Netflix. Words aren't enough to explain how excited we are that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is partnering with us for this epic Netflix Original series but these emojis come pretty close."

The video begins with a closer glimpse of the actors--Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sonakshi Sinha. All the actors are seen in mustard outfits as they sit next to one another. Sonakshi, the only person, who stood amongst them, did a salaam looking at the camera.

The makers of Heeramandi shared the first look from the project on social media on Saturday afternoon and stunning can't even begin to describe it. Heeramandi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, will release on streaming giant Netflix. Heeramandi boasts of an impressive ensemble cast that includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Shaikh. The teaser showcases all the actresses dressed in yellow ensembles, looking in the camera as the text "Sanjay Leela Bhansali invites you the world where courtesans were queens" flashes on screen. Heeramandi will showcase the story of the courtesans of Lahore and will explore the lesser-known aspects of their lives. It will be set in pre-independent India.

Speaking about his magnum-opus, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, in a statement earlier, said, "Heeramandi is an important milestone in my journey as a filmmaker. This is an epic, first of its kind series based on the courtesans of Lahore. It is an ambitious, grand and all-encompassing series; therefore I am nervous yet excited about making it. I am looking forward to my partnership with Netflix and bringing Heeramandi to audiences all over the world."

Netflix also posted another clip giving a glimpse of the characters dressed in black outfits. It captioned the post, "Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s grandeur combined with their awe-inspiring talent and elegance. Tell us a more iconic duo, we’ll wait! #Heeramandi coming soon only on Netflix!"

As per news agency ANI, the web series will explore stories of courtesans and the hidden cultural reality of Heeramandi, a dazzling district, during pre-independent India. It is a series about love, betrayal, succession, and politics in the kothas which promises Bhansali's trademark larger-than-life sets, multi-faceted characters and soulful compositions.
