A direct rip-off of two films Agneesakshi and Daraar, the show revolves around the lead protagonist Janvi (Sriti Jha) being tortured by an abusive husband Viraj (Karanvir Bohra), who goes through great lengths to instill fear in his new wife, including locking her up in a room full of cockroaches. For the world, Viraj is nothing less than a perfect husband and this over-possessive side of Viraj is only known to Janvi, who silently bears his cruel behaviour in fear for her family’s life. But soon things get out of hand, and Janvi finally manages to escape when the car she is traveling in with her mom-in-law meets with an accident. Viraj believes that it was Janvi who died in the accident, giving her a chance to begin a new life.
No doubt that the cruelty shown in the film can be very disturbing, and the situations seem over the top to a great extent, but the strong performances of the lead actors Karanvir and Janvi make it a compelling watch. While Karanvir’s maniacal act actually manages to give one goose flesh, Janvi’s vulnerability that she projects make her quite endearing. Together they keep the audience’s interest alive. On the downside, Janvi’s character fails to inspire or encourage women to speak up against the issue that the show claims to tackle. Instead of showing her to start fighting for her rights, the show chooses to instead go the filmi way where she’s opting for a new life. Overall, the show is a family bonder, and entertaining and the actors impressive, but you do find yourself wishing that it would send out a stronger message to women to speak up, than just glamourise violence.

Aamir gets secretive

Actor Aamir Khan is known to go to great lengths to ensure that the project he gives a nod to, is perfect in most aspects. And that’s why he’s literally nicknamed ‘Mr Perfectionist’ Khan in the industry. And Aamir recently displayed another of his perfectionist streak, on the sets of his upcoming television show, Satyameva Jayete. Those in the know tell us that Aamir is obsessive about making sure that no one discloses anything about the show to the public. “Non disclosure agreements (NDA) are a common practise in films and on television, especially reality shows. It is the team’s way of making sure that details about the concept or star cast is not revealed before they are ready to let the world know about it. In this day and age, movies and TV’s shows literally plan their marketing strategies around such details, so if it is leaked before hand, it undermines all the effort they put in. Also, a lot of money is at stake,” explains the source. While Aamir has made sure that an NDA is in place, he has apparently instructed his team to make anyone stepping into the sets, sign one, and that too on a daily basis. Confirming this, the source adds, “Well, that’s Aamir for you. He always goes that extra mile to protect the privacy of his film and now he’s doing the same for his TV show too.”

Actor Priyanka Chopra is making the most of her firang connections as she bonds with international singer Katy Perry


Guess who is on a friend-making spree in B-town? Actor Priyanka Chopra who was in the news of late for her friendship going sour with a lot of people in B-town, apparently has new friends to talk about. The actor who has been busy for the past year, juggling films and her singing career, has been making a lot of trips to the US. Priyanka who has spent a considerable amount of time in Los Angeles meeting people and recording her album, has also made quite a few friends in Hollywood.

Earlier, she was in the news for her apparent friendship with UK singer Jay Sean followed by her meeting with pop star Lady Gaga. Gaga who was also in India to perform for a show but however, didn't meet PC. But now there are reports suggesting that the duo may be collaborating on a song in her new album. The latest addition to the list of her firangi friends is singer Katy Perry. The singer who has been in the news for her messy marriage break-up with Russel Brand is currently in India for the opening ceremony of a cricket tournament. Co-incidentally PC too performed at the same event and that is where they met and clicked.
A source present at the function reveals, "Priyanka and Katy were very happy to meet each other. PC has heard so much about Katy that she was chatting nineteen to a dozen with the singer. The two were spotted chatting about her upcoming album, work for which has been almost completed. Katy too was in awe of Priyanka's clothes and was heard complimenting PC for her dressing sense. The duo has also made plans to catch up, when she goes back to LA to release her album." After the event, Katy and PC even interacted on Twitter. PC tweeted, "too much fun doin girl time. Holdin u to the cupcake ATM in LA.. C u guys soon" to which Katy replied, "@priyankachopra lovely to meet you! Can't wait to host you in Los Angeles...also can't wait to raid your closet :)" PC in turn sent her an affirmation from her side that read, "haha!! For sure! N me urs for all ur floral jumpsuits!!;) @katyperry"

Actor Neha Dhupia reveals that she is a great fan of actors Audrey Hepburn and Sonam Kapoor when it comes to fashion



Actor Neha Dhupia is extremely fashion conscious. She is very choosy and particular about her dressing. The same happened during the shoot of the promotional song for Rush when she had a say on the outfits and the stylists also completely trusted her choice. She shortlisted four dresses of the 70 given to her as options.
Neha also soon plans to venture into fashion e-commerce, as she herself is an online shopping addict. She says, "I myself shop for shoes and clothes all the time from various sites and if I can get to see what the dress I wish to buy will look like on me in as good as a 3D avatar. What more can I ask for? It's a boon for all of us e-shoppers." Says Neha about her growing affinity towards fashion, "I am a person who loves fashion and I never get tired of dressing up. I am a bit fussy and concerned about how I look on camera because it adds up to the look of the character. I really like the way I have been styled in Rush as I took close interest in it myself." So being a fashion junkie what is the one thing that Neha just cannot do without? She says, "I just can't do without a big dial watch. Watches are my weakness. I love to hoard as many watches I can. And I feel a big dial black or white or chrome watch can instantly add oomph to a dull and simple look."
However Neha's fashion muses aren't any of her contemporaries but Hollywood diva Audrey Hepburn. "I love Audrey Hepburn for her classic style and elegance. And in India it is Sonam Kapoor as she carries herself very well be it Indian wear or western vintage outfits that she accessorises it with a quirk. I feel that I'm in a happy space now and I love it this way," she adds.

Actor Hugh Grant says he is nearly finished with acting because he doesn’t like appearing in front of the camera anymore.
“I’m pretty much finished. Occasionally something tickles my fancy, otherwise I'm fine,” contactmusic.com quoted the 51-year-old as saying.
“I’m still not very keen on acting. I don’t do much work, but I like aspects of it. I like the camaraderie with people you are working with. But actually standing in front of a camera, no I don’t love that,” he added.

Isles of filmi fun and happy hours

The atmosphere at Sentosa Islands was full of fun and frolic for the entire cast and crew of Housefull 2





The international premiere of Housefull 2 that was held in Singapore on Tuesday night saw the entire cast and crew turn up in full force. Director Sajid Khan was accompanied by actors John Abraham, Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Shreyas Talpade. The girls were also in attendance in Singapore as they moved around in groups, chatting nineteen to a dozen. Asin and Jacqueline Fernandes were inseperable at the premiere, even waiting to walk the red carpet together while Shazahn Padamsee and Zarine Khan were accompanied by their mothers.
Producer Sajid Nadiadwala was conspicuous by his absence and his wife, Wardha made up for it by getting on stage along with their son. Nadiadwala’s son was a huge hit with the ladies, all of whom wanted to get pictures clicked with him. All of them were dressed to perfection at the formal event with the girls sporting red carpet gowns and the men wearing a three-piece suit barring John, who decided to turn up in casual clothes in a tee and denims. After introducing his actors on stage, Sajid Khan and his gang settled down to watch the film, after which they all proceeded to the casino to try their luck. All the actors stuck together even at the casino and some of them were spotted playing a few games and relaxing.
Day two at the island saw most of them heading to the Universal Studios to check out the attractions there. Most of them wanted to unwind after a long day of work and the actors were spotted enjoying the roller coaster rides and watching street parades. Some of them indulged in some last minute souvenir shopping at the studio. Genelia and Riteish were spotted heading to the studios as was Shazahn who was at the studio with her mother, Sharon Prabhakar. The entire gang was so inseparable even after the premiere that they were together at the airport and later in the flight.
Strangely however, Asin was missing in action at the casino where the entire cast was present. John too was not present at the venue, reportedly because he was scheduled to meet a couple of his friends in the city, outside the island. John’s girlfriend, Priya too did not accompany the actor, possibly because it was just a two-day trip. Interestingly, Sajid and Jacqueline who are rumoured to be a couple did not make a single appearance together. Instead they chose to move around in groups. The only time they were spotted together was at the airport on their flight back to Mumbai.

‘I’m a keeper of equations’

Actor Bipasha Basu clears the air about her equations with the men in her life — co-stars, friends and ex-boyfriend John Abraham too!




Actor Bipasha Basu is busy shooting for Raaz 3 as we catch up with her for a quick chat. Excited about reuniting with the Bhatts, she reveals that it was long overdue. “Yes, they were upset when I had turned down their films in the past, but they knew the reason why I’d turned them down. I wanted a role worth me and now that they have it, we are working together again,” she says. But while the film’s keeping her busy professionally, personally she’s been battling rumours of link-ups with actor Rana Daggubati. “To be honest, I’m pakaoed with these link-up rumours. Guys, give me a break. I’m very much single. I’m a free spirit and I do enjoy male attention like any girl would, but I’m not at all frivolous about my friendships or relationships. So, it cheeses me off to see my equations being put under scanner all the time. I value the people in my life as I’m a keeper of equations and it pains me to see people trivialising it. Why is it so difficult for people to accept that a single woman can be only friends too with good-looking men?” she quips. Point taken, After Hrs gets the Bolly hottie to spill the beans on her real equation with men who matter or well, mattered…

‘No issues with Emraan Hashmi’
I never had any issues with Emraan to begin with. I never turned down any film because I didn’t want to star with him. I refused films only because the role I was offered was not up to what I expected. And now, that we are working together, there’s no awkwardness at all. I think our chemistry is dynamic. It’s like bringing two dynamites together and fireworks are but expected (laughs).

‘Looking forward to meeting Josh Hartnett again’ Josh will always be a very dear co-star, and I’m looking forward to meeting him again soon. I will be flying out to the UK to finish a two-day patch work on Singularity, so it will be good to connect with him and Joffe (director Roland Joffe) again.

‘Rana’s still a good friend’
There was never ever anything, but friendship with him to begin with. Rana is still a good friend, and we catch up when he comes here or when I fly down to Hyderabad, but no we don’t plan trips to meet each other. I’m exhausted with these rumours and I wish people would just let us be friends. I was someone’s girlfriend when they started, and it affected me back then, but even though I’m single now, it’s still hurting and irritating to being linked just because you have dinner with that friend.

‘Happy John has moved on!’
Despite buzz of the actor reuniting with her ex boyfriend, actor John Abraham for an item number in a film starring him, an insider reveals that the two will not be sharing screen space. However, Bipasha reveals that she won’t have any qualms in working with him. “I’m happy that he’s moved on. As for working with him, there are no issues at my end. If there’s a good script, I don’t see why working together will be a problem,” she says.
