Actor Vidyut Jamwal reveals why he chose to play a baddie in his debut film instead of a hero

He made his debut as a baddie in Bollywood, but surprisingly, since his first release, actor Vidyut Jamwal finds himself being offered more positive roles than negative ones, including playing a lead in a romantic flick. Though Vidyut prefers to keep mum about it saying, "will talk when I sign it", he does admit that the roles coming his way are far different from what he was expecting and adds that "it's a pleasant surprise."
"Considering that I played an out-and-out baddie, I thought that the roles I will be offered will most likely be on the lines of negative characters. But it's a mixed bag," says the actor. Insisting that he's in no rush to lap up every film coming his way, he adds, "Bollywood's been a dream come true and I've worked hard for it. So, I want to be selective about what I do, and only better what I have already done."
While most newcomers dream of making their debut as the 'hero', Vidyut reveals that he had no qualms in playing the baddie in his very first film. Well-trained in several forms of martial arts, including Parkour and Kalaripayattu, he made quite an impact in his villanesque avatar too as he took on John Abraham in Force. "Playing a good guy or bad was never the criteria and never will be. The idea is to make bad look good and good even better," says Vidyut.
A new entrant he may be, but along with tasting success Vidyut is already getting a taste of link-ups as well. B-Town is abuzz with talks of him dating actor Mona Kapoor. So is it true? "Well, I am here to work and not be discussed about for my personal life. So people can say what they want to, I will let my work do all the talking for me," says Vidyut.
