Impostor attack!

An impostor sent out messages to actor Abhishek Bachchan from actor Prachi Desai's fake online account

Actor Prachi Desai recently discovered that she has been impersonated on Twitter. Well, she's definitely not the first celebrity to be impersonated on the microblogging site, as several others too have had their fake accounts being created. But in Prachi's case, it was a colleague from the industry, who pointed it out to her. This actor happens to be her co-star Abhishek Bachchan, who came up to Prachi and complained that he got a funny tweet from her that morning, about which Prachi was completely clueless.
"It was a point, where she was embarassed beyond words. She just kept staring at Abhishek with a puzzled look: 'When did I send you that embarrassing tweet?' She then even apologised, even though Abhishek said that it was okay and that she need not worry," says a source, who's a close friend of Prachi.
But then, Prachi came back to Abhishek that day itself with a plea to help her. The incident happened when they were shooting together in Jaipur recently.
"Prachi kept in touch with Abhishek and sought his help to get this account closed down as quickly as possible. Abhishek promised that he would help her. And so he even got a friend involved to track down the impostor," the source adds.
But impersonators on such social networking sites rarely get caught and it was no different in Prachi's case. She was hoping that the person will be caught in due time. But in the meanwhile she hoped that the impersonator would just close down the account and stop on his own.
"Abhishek got in touch with somebody and asked him to help out Prachi. Not only that, he even sat down with her and taught her how to handle and operate her Twitter account. With the help of his friend, the offender's fake account was finally taken down in a few days time," the source adds.
Though Prachi is not on Twitter, she is planning to open an account soon just to prevent such impostors from using her name. "She doesn't plan to be on Twitter, but she thinks that nobody should turn an impostor and take advantage of the fact that she is not there to keep a check. The impostor had used her id to send messages to her colleagues and luckily it was Abhishek who helped her sort out the issue. Prachi dreads to think what else could have happened had it not been for Abhishek helping her out," adds the source.
