Shakira, Martinajazz up Udaipur
The most talked about birthday bash ends as Martina Navratilova heads for a spa in the Himalayas
Tennis icon Martina Navratilova and international pop diva Shakira turned out to be the star invitees of the most talked about birthday bash in Udaipur on Tuesday. Sportsman David Beckham and wife, singer Victoria, who were also reportedly slated to make an appearance, missed the date to attend the birthday bash of real estate tycoon KP Singh, which was held at Jagmandir, an island on the Pichola Lake in Udaipur.
Earlier on Tuesday, Martina and her female partner, a much younger Julia Lemigova, were spotted in a book store in New Delhi and also at Old Delhi shopping for Pashmina shawls before she hurriedly caught a chartered flight to Udaipur. Martina and her friend apparently checked into a spa in the Himalayas after the bash.
"Martina and her partner are now in a famous Himalayan spa where she will stay for a day or two. The two wanted to come to Mumbai, but as of now they haven't spoken to us about anything," says a close friend of Martina, who's also a sportsperson.
Shakira, along with 30 of her band members, had already reached Udaipur a day earlier to practice for her performance. Shakira is supposed to head out of the country with her dancers.
"She wants to come back to Mumbai, but there's not much time on her hands. She planned to take a day or two off to soak in the colours of Rajasthan, before heading out of the country," says another source.
Shakira and Navratilova were put up at hotel Udaivilas and apparently special decorated boats (imported from Mumbai) were assigned to reach them to the venue in the middle of the lake.
