Snow struck

Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh is rather excited about his upcoming Abbas-Mustan thriller Players, which is a remake of the Hollywood heist film, The Italian Job. Along with him, the film also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Sikander Kher, Bipasha Basu and Sonam Kapoor and the entire unit became very cohesive throughout the shoot schedule. Some part of the film was also shot in Murmansk, Russia, where the temperatures are often sub zero, as it would snow heavily. Shooting in this climate therefore became very difficult, but since the permissions had been taken and all other arrangements made, it was not possible to reschedule or postpone the shoots.
Like most other actors, Neil too has done his own stunts in the film. But while he did manage to do the stunts, the climate took a toll on his health and on one instance, got injured as well.
Talking about this particular scene when he got stuck in snow, Neil says. "We were shooting in extreme climatic conditions in Murmansk. It is located in the extreme northwest part of Russia and the entire place was covered with snow. We could not cancel a single shooting day as we were on a tight schedule hence we continued shooting in spite of rough weather."
He had initially fractured his finger earlier and this time he got stuck in snow. A source from the sets elaborates, "During an action scene, Neil got stuck in ice rather badly. The entire unit ran to his rescue and rushed him to the heating zone. He had frost bites and his body temperature had dropped drastically. Shooting for the film has been one of the most physically straining experience for the cast and crew along with the actors."
