WHEN THE STARS TAKE SOUVENIRS FROM THE SET
Sometimes the costumes and props used on the set of a film become as iconic, if not more so, than the actors using them. Think Dorothy’s ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz, or the Iron Man suit(s) that Robert Downey Jr wears when he plays the superhero. And sometimes, the stars take them home as souvenirs because they’ve forged a connection with the characters they’ve played and the objects that helped them do so. Here’s a peek at stars who’ve taken home props or costumes from the films they’ve worked on...DEEPIKA PADUKONE Film: Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
Souvenir: Glasses Deepika Padukone, who never wore glasses in any of her previous films, is said to prize the pair she wore in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD). It’s been reported that Deepika — who says that her YJHD character, Naina Talwar, is very like what she is in real life — wants the glasses she wore in the film as a souvenir. “Naina is a special character for me. The glasses helped me live that part. I’d like to keep them as a memory of her,” she told BT in an earlier interview. The glasses are said to be with the YJHD team, but the film’s producer Karan Johar has given them instructions to send them to Deepika.
