Fashion we learnt from Carrie and her chic gang

As Sex And The City turns 15, here’s a fashionable recap

Fifteen years ago, four fictional women, living in Manhattan (New York), entered the lives of television viewers. Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York, Samantha Jones and Miranda Hobbes, the four protagonists of Sex And The City (SATC), which dealt with women and their lives in upmarket New York, became household favourites and also pop fashion icons.
The four women embodied all that the young women yearned for — fast-paced lifestyles, (mis)adventures with men and wearing the best of high street brands and fashion. With time, this serial also ended up introducing the audiences to several new brands, many of which became rather popular by the end.
Of course, the most defining trends that has caught on from this series is the stilettos. Women learnt to pair them right.
While the serial had them walking and living in the New York high streets, these independant women also made popular a whole lot of styles that aren’t really high fashion. From streetside bags teamed with designer dresses to making shopping expedition in cities in Abu Dhabi look exotic, they’ve created trends and moments that are certainly going to remain ‘in’ for many years to come.
Even as the serial completes 15 years, Sarah Jessica Parker, who played Carrie, still embodies the character, ensuring she always is ahead of the trends. Be it carrying the midfinger ring fad in her recent outings, or the nude makeup looks, she’s still got it. In fact, she is now reportedly creating her own range of footwear.

POPULAR FASHION TRENDS FROM SATC There’s nothing sexier than flaunting your legs with a pair of high heels. Stilettos especially gained popularity Wedding outfits and designers made headlines just as Carrie tied the knot in the film Even now, Sarah Jessica Parker still inspires many trends, be it for her shoes or her hairstyles In the initial seasons, the girls wore a lot of hats setting many new fashion trends
