Vindu Dara Singh would play cricket inside the Bigg Boss house
Composer Ismail Darbar talks about his co-contestant on the reality show
Vindu Dara Singh and you were pretty close in Bigg Boss 3 in 2009. Did his recent arrest come as a shock to you? Yes, very much. Woh bahut hi zindadil insaan hai. To err is human. He must have made a mistake. Inside the Bigg Boss house, he used to play cricket with me. Once he said, ‘Aap toh solid khelte ho!’ I love cricket and if not a composer, I would have been a cricketer, for sure. In the house, if not cricket, we would play catch-catch with the ball. Par usne kabhi nahin bola uska IPL mein interest hai ya, ‘Ismail bhai, main kabhi aap ko IPL dekhne le chalta hoon.’
Wouldn’t Vindu cry a lot on the show? On camera, it seemed like he was crying all the time. But, it was hard putting up with gossip from morning till midnight. People would sit and gossip before having their morning tea and even after having a full-course dinner! It was a public platform and Vindu knew how to grab the eyeballs. He worked very hard on it. He was friends with most contestants, would religiously sweep the floor in the morning and make tea. Four days into the show, I had told Bigg Boss that Vindu would emerge the winner. And he did.
Wouldn’t you want to meet your friend for old times’ sake? Of course. Through the media, I want to send him my message. Woh achha aadmi hai. What’s more, he is the son of Dara Singh. Koi maa ka lal ka kabhi himmat nahin hua uske taraf ungli uthaye. I want to ask Vindu not to indulge in any such timepass. Paise kamane ke aur bhi tareeke hain... khaani toh khaali do hi roti hai. Crores leke kya fayeda, niwale toh sone ke nahin hote. Also, I would want to request the cricket board that they treat cricket like a game. Game ke andar game khelna theek nahin.
