Bareilly Ki Barfi takes off on a sweet note
It's said that when you begin something on a sweet note, suc cess is assured. With a title like Bareilly Ki Barfi, that looks like a foregone conclusion. No wonder then that the trailer of this Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari-helmed romcom regaled everyone who had gathered for a dekko of it. Also present at the launch were Renu Ravi Chopra and her sons Abhay and Juno, who are coproducers of the film. The movie has been penned by Nitesh Tiwari, who had won worldwide acclaim for writing and directing Dangal.
Kriti Sanon essays the part of a small-town girl with big dreams, while Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao vie for her attention.Asked who wins the girl's heart, Ayushmann, said, “You have to watch the film for that.“ The actor, who has regaled audiences with his performances in Vicky Donor and Dum Laga Ke Haisha, added, “I am excited about Bareilly Ki Barfi. It's a very Woody Allen-like romcom that deals with relationships in a unique way .“
Stating that she enjoyed making this film because the characters are believable, Ashwini said, “You can identify with them. I like Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Sai Paranjpe's brand of cinema that captured the lives of common people beautifully and I have tried to get that in my film as well.“
Nitesh, whose directorial Dangal was applauded by critics and audiences globally , summed it up saying, “I like writing stories that are close to my heart. We were contemplating on setting this film in Goa, but we zeroed in on Bareilly since I have lived in Uttar Pradesh and I thought we could get the nuances of our characters right.“
