Jimmy Shergill, who is gearing up for the release of his suspense thriller film Sikandar Ka Muqaddar, recently opened up about breaking his chocolate boy image. He deliberately sought out offbeat roles in diverse films to break away from the image.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Jimmy shared, "I felt that if I continued to do the same type of roles, I would be out of work in 3-4 years." He added, "That's when I started taking on films like Haasil, Munnabhai MBBS, A Wednesday, and Tanu Weds Manu. I tried to make my look more real, without makeup, and bring more hardness to my face."
Jimmy also spoke about the challenges of taking on new roles and the importance of supporting new directors. "I've always tried to support new people," he said. "If the script is interesting and it's a bound work, I try to give newer directors a chance."
In Sikandar Ka Muqaddar, Jimmy plays the role of Inspector Jasvinder Singh, a cop obsessed with solving a crime he couldn't crack years ago. He shared that his reel-life character is quite different from his real-life personality. "I have learnt in life to let go," he said. "But when things are positive, when things are good and you feel you can be obsessed with them, I do that."
Jimmy was last seen in Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, which premiered on Netflix in August 2024.
