Meanwhile, ‘I don’t flirt frivolously’
...says actor Bipasha Basu as she talks about the absence of ‘the man’ in her life and why she enjoys it immensely

Much has been written about Bipasha Basu’s love life recently, but the actor says she has embraced singledom.
She refutes all reports that suggests that she has moved on to greener pastures after her break-up with actor John Abraham last year. “I don’t miss being in a relationship at all. I am honestly enjoying the attention because I have never been single for such a long time. I love that I don’t have any responsibilities now. When I broke up, I was scared and shaken up with the attention I got. But now, I am back to what I was. I have become outgoing. I now have the luxury of spending time with my friends. Something that I missed doing earlier,” says Bipasha.
So is she overwhelmed with the attention she has been getting post her break-up? “I think it’s cute,” says Bipasha. “I started getting attention in school, but eventually when the boys would propose I would end up in tears. I was a phattu like that. And all these years, I was in a relationship, I was like a warrior. There are people who believe in harmless flirting, I don’t ever do that, even frivolously. I know I will eventually get into a relationship, but love can’t be planned. So, right now, I am having the time of my life,” she says.
Even her professional life seems to have come a full circle for the actor as she gears up for the release of Raaz 3, a franchise that shot to fame with her. “When I did Raaz, my second film with the Bhatts, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my career. They are the ones who guided me and told me that I was gifted and that I must take my work seriously. I gave two of my biggest hits, Jism and Raaz with them. Whatever I am today is all because of them. This film is very special to me,” says the dusky damsel.

Boman Irani

Acting or photography? It’s very difficult to choose, as difficult as choosing between one’s mother and father. What’s the one thing you’d love to capture with your camera? A photograph that epitomises true happiness. One woman you want to go on a date with. Why only one? But, if given an option I would go out with Meryl Streep. A colour that best describes your life.
VIBGYOR. You have worked in a bakery, in theatre, in advertisements and on the big screen. Which has been the closest to your heart? Everything, because it’s all a Reading glasses and a copy of Mad magazine.
What’s your comfort food?
Frankies.
Most overrated virtue?
Being frank. part of a beautiful journey called life. A role you think you were born to play. A paint salesman. Ha ha ha! Describe your typical holiday. A lot of theatre and great food with the family.
Your darkest fear. Getting stuck in a closed room alone. What is on your bedside table?
One movie that makes you smile?
AsGoodAsItGets. Three people you’d love to have over to dinner. Johnny Lever, Karan Johar and Abhishek Bachchan.
Your last big splurge? Purchasing a Mercedes car for my wife. You have 30 seconds to pack for a trip. What do you take?
Lots of fresh underwear. What helps you unwind at the end of the day?
Watching a movie. If you could go back in time, where would you go? The era of the Renaissance, because some of the most inspirational people lived at that time and changed the way we live, eat and breathe. The last line of your autobiography will read…
And so it all begins!

As always, several stars walked the ramp at the recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week. But who managed to ace it? Have a look and tell us by taking our poll on the last page of the slideshow!

Kareena Kapoor

We start off with the lovely Bebo, who made a big splash at the grand finale for Kallol Datta in a black and white snail-print hoodie and black bodysuit.

Kareena walked the ramp twice in the same showing, the second time around for Pankaj and Nidhi in this leather-tasselled ensemble.

Yummy mummy Mandy showed off her legendary curves for Sapna Bhavnani and Sukriti Grover's faux leather-promoting label SoFake

Veteran actress Kirron Kher cut a graceful figure in one of Gaurang's Kanjeevaram creations.

Another actress who carried off a drape with elan was Prateik's ladylove Amy, for Pernia Qureshi.

The only male to showstop at the LFW, the Mallya heir apparent donned a Komal Sood suit for his ramp debut.

Sultry Sam donned a geometric digital print sari from Archana Kochhar's latest line.

Preeti was decked to the nines in bridal finery by Anita Dongre.

Designer Payal Kapoor got Mini to don a bridal number too, in traditional red and gold.

B-Town newbie Bidita oozed futuristic funk on the ramp for Abhishek Dutta.

Gangs of Wasseypur actress Richa did the honours for Debarun Mukherjee in an asymmetric double-layered ghagra with black velvet waistcoat and churi-sleeved blouse.

Richa's Wasseypur co-star Huma also took to the LFW runway in a cutwork and drape-detailed ensemble for Atithi Gupta

Strutting her stuff in a bling-thing Pia Pauro jumpsuit was Dhobi Ghat actress Monica.

Supermodel Jessie didn't shy away from baring her bod in this fabulous Ritu Beri showstopper.

It was a case of role-reversal as fashion designer and politician Shaina modelled Shruti Sancheti's best creation.

Injury alert

Injury alert
Through the week, models complained of minor injuries at the event. While no major accidents occurred, a number of models ended up getting scratches from some of the designer outfits. A few were seen tending to their wounds with ointment in between shows as they hung outside the green room, as there was no designated space for models to unwind either.

Tamara missing

Top model Tamara Moss, who was expected to walk the ramp at LFW this week, was absent from the event. A source told us that Tamara had missed the fittings which supposedly the organisers were miffed about, hence she was apparently asked not to be part of the fashion week.

No time to breathe

No time to breathe
The tight schedule at the fashion week was something quite a few people were unhappy about. Back to back shows between the main show area and the Talent Box meant attendees and media alike had to run back and forth with shows almost overlapping because of delays.

Actor Vivek Oberoi who had taken a mini-break to be with wife Priyanka in Bengaluru, later surprised her by whisking her away to the UK on an extended holiday. According to sources, the getaway was meant to be a pre-celebration for their second anniversary coming up in October. “It’s early, but Vivek decided to celebrate it with his family in the UK, as he would be busy with his film in October and a break may not be possible then. Besides, he is also sort of celebrating his anniversary as it is also the day he had first met Priyanka,” says an insider.

While in the UK, the actor was also been bitten by the Olympics bug. “Mera Bharat mahaan!Gr8 feeling of pride 2see the Indian flag flying high here in London! Hope we win more medals though!” the actor had tweeted recently.

But a vacation with wife and the Olympics action apart, the actor who is expected to return home today, is also excited about the online promo launch of his film Kismet Love Paisa Dilli that is to happen today. In fact, a source reveals that he had even requested the producer and carried the film promo with him to show it to his family in London.

“Last night Vivek had a small party to celebrate his anniversary where he showcased the promo of his upcoming film directed by Sanjay Khanduri (of Ek Chalis Ki Last Local fame),” the insider adds.

When contacted, Vivek said, “It was nice to be able to take a little break and spend quality time with Priyanka. Now I am looking forward to catching the trailer launch of KLPD today.”
