    Research has shown that lonely adults are at greater risk of developing health problems but a new study has suggested that looking on the bright side of life can help prevent these age-related
health risks. The study proved that adults who approach life with a positive outlook could reverse negative health issues associated with a lonely life.
    “Our aim was to see whether using self-protective strategies, such as thinking positively and avoiding self-blame in the context of common age-related threats could prevent lonely adults from exhibiting an increase in stress hormones and inflammatory biomarkers,” said researcher Carsten Wrosch.
    Adults who reframe problematic health issues positively and do not blame themselves for it can decrease health threats associated with stress and inflammation.

Seattle proposes eliminating hygiene standards for taxi drivers

Taxi drivers in Seattle have proposed changes in the budget package for next year that would eliminate current dress code and hygiene standards among taxi and for-hire drivers. Citing that they be treated like adults that they’ve asked for removing the requirement that drivers be ‘neat and clean’, among other things.

Actress Amrita Arora Ladak, who welcomed her second son with businessman husband Shakeel Ladak, is overjoyed and has named him Rayaan. “Yes, we’ve named our baby boy Rayaan. He’s adorable. His name means, ‘the door to paradise’,” said Amrita, who is already a mother to two-year-old son Azaan.

Recognition for children’s author

On Thursday, the Padma Binani Foundation, a nonprofit, cultural organisation promoted by India’s eminent Binani family announced its sixth Vatsalya Award. Meena Kakodkar from Goa received the award for her contribution in children’s literature. Padma Binani, chairperson of the foundation envisioned the need for creating an inspirational voice for children and promoted a dedicated wing for them called ‘Vatsalya’. She has also written several books for children and on philosophy. At the event, her latest book, Mahabharat A to Z was also unveiled. Dilip Walse-Patil, Speaker, Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha, MLA Raj K Purohit, Braj Binani, Chairman – Braj Binani Group, Kalpana Binani and Shradha Binani were present for the occasion.

The winners of Pond’s Femina Miss India Pune 2013 on how their life has changed post winning the Pune city round of the pageant

Winning the title has given Saniah not just a platform to showcase her personality, but also to prove that she had made the right decision by participating in the pageant. “My family really supported me,” she says.
Apurva Lonkar feels she hasn’t just made her parents proud but also her city. “I now want to concentrate on winning the Pond’s Feminas Miss India 2013 title. I will have to work really hard, as nothing comes easy,” expresses Apurva.
