Rani picks up Tamil from Prithvi
For her upcoming film, the actor had to learn not one but two new languages

Actor Rani Mukerji, who will seen in the upcoming film Aiyaa had to not only learn Marathi but also pick up some words in Tamil! That Rani Mukerji is playing a Marathi mulgi in her forthcoming film based in a Maharashtrian household is common knowledge. But since she is shown to fall in love with a Tamilian played by South actor Prithviraj, Rani in some parts of the film also speaks a smattering of Tamil.
Coming from a Bengali family, it wasn’t easy for her to pick up this absolutely new language. It was then that her hero, literally, came to her rescue! Prithviraj, who has acted in both Tamil and Malayalam films apparently tutored her throughout the shoot. Whenever she had to mouth a Tamil dialogue, Prithviraj helped her with the pronounciations. He made sure she did not commit any blunder in her dialogue delivery. A spokesperson confirms, “Yes, Rani had to learn a bit of Tamil as some portion of the scenes demanded her to speak in Tamil, but Prithviraj, helped her cope up with the situation and made it very easy for here. “
Prior to the shoot of the film, Rani had spent some 25 days training to get her Marathi accent right. It was director Sachin Kundalkar who helped her get the correct nuances. “I did not have a lot of trouble getting into the skin of the character because I am a Mumbaikar. However, I had to work on the accent and the nuances because the way a Bengali pronounces a word is completely different from how a Maharashtrian says it. Sachin helped me get it right,” Rani had said earlier.
