‘THERE’S COMPLETE PEACE IN OUR ASSOCIATION...’

The dispute between Kanjibhai and God — played by Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar respectively, in director Umesh Shukla’s OMG Oh My God! — is now up for a public viewing. And in a country where religion and faith thrive above all, the topic of the film has already generated a lot of curiosity.
Calling the film a ‘divine comedy thriller’, Paresh says, “You know why it’s divine and why it’s a comedy. But it’s also a thriller because you’ll wonder what’s going to happen after this man has contradicted your beliefs and thoughts by suing God.” Conceding that the film addresses our religious beliefs with humour, Akshay explains their intention is not to hurt any sentiments. “We’re told that people doing this and that, they spend time and money to travel to religious places etc, but if we use the same money to help the poor and needy, God will be happier.”
Akshay, who’s optimistic about the film’s success, says, “Professionally, we have a good success ratio. And this time, we’re also partners in production.” Adds Paresh, “There’s complete peace in our association. There’s no place for insecurity and we have respect for each other. And now that we’re also partners in production; I’m lucky and happy.”
Select screenings of the film, which were held earlier this week in Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Benaras received an overwhelming response. Some spiritual leaders across the country, for whom a special preview was held, too, lauded the movie.
OMG Oh My God!, produced by Grazing Goat Pictures and Viacom18 Motion Pictures, releases today.
