Many of B-Town’s actors and actresses were replaced by other actors for various reasons ranging from creative differences, dates issues, money matters etc. Curious to know which actors lost their chance to be in some of Bollywood’s biggest hits? Here’s the list...

Akshay replaces Arnie in Enthiran 2


There was excitement when the news came in, that Arnold Schwarzenegger was going to do Shankar’s next film, Enthiran 2, the sequel to Enthiran with Rajinikanth. Arnie was going to play the main villain in the film. But the deal fell through reportedly because the former Governor of California asked for a whopping ` 120 crore as renumeration. Then Akshay Kumar announced the news. An industrywalla says, ‘what goes around, comes around. Akshay sent `1 crore for Chennai flood victims, and karma paid him back instantly with one of the biggest films next year’.

John replaces Akshay in Hera Pheri 3


After replacing Akshay Kumar in Welcome Back, John Abraham replaced the actor in yet another sequel Hera Pheri 3. While producer Firoz Nadiadwala claimed that Akshay asked for a huge fee, the actor maintains he was not approached for the film. Now, John will play the role of Raju Khabri (the name of character portrayed by Akshay in the film). Abhishek Bachchan will play the role of Raju Duplicate. One of the best Hindi comedies, Hera Pheri, became a brand because of the marvelous acting and comic timing of Paresh Rawal (Baburao Ganpatrao Apte), Sunil Shetty and Akshay Kumar.

Shraddha replaces

Disha in Baaghi

Model Disha Patani, who was supposed to make her debut opposite Tiger Shroff in Baaghi (directed by Saabir Khan) suddenly found herself replaced by Shraddha Kapoor. A shocked Disha was prepping for the role, but was ousted from the project as her look test didn’t work out. Initially, the makers of the film wanted to cast a fresh face opposite Tiger but later changed their mind as they thought of adding star value to the project.

Sonu replaces Aamir in Kung Fu Yoga

When Aamir Khan met Jackie Chan, it was reported that the actor was going to star opposite Chan in Kung Fu Yoga, but the actor turned down the film as the dates were clashing with those of Dangal. However, when he was in China he recommended Heropanti star Tiger’s name to the makers of Kung Fu Yoga. The makers flew down to India to talk to Tiger, but as he was busy with Sajid Nadiadwala’s Baaghi and Remo D’Souza’s Flying Jatt, he had to turn down the offer. Ultimately the role went to Sonu Sood.

Varun-Alia replaces Ranveer-Deepika in Shuddhi

Karan Malhotra’s Shuddhi has undergone a few cast changes in the last couple of years. From Kareena Kapoor Khan and Hrithik Roshan, then Salman Khan and Deepika Padukone, now it is finally Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. Hrithik walked out due to Hrithik’s health issues and Kareena followed. Later, Salman Khan was roped in but soon he too opted out because of date issues. When Shuddhi happens it will be Varun and Alia’s third film after Student of the Year and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya.

Sonakshi replaces Rani

in Haseena

Produced by Mubina Rattonsey and directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Haseena — The Queen of Mumbai has started rolling from this month with Sonakshi Sinha as the main lead. She plays underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s seventh sister Haseena Parkar, who was closest to Dawood. Last year, there were reports that Rani Mukerji would play the role but recently Sona’s was officially announced. Lakhia had approached Rani to star in the film, but the Mardaani actress had to say no as she was expecting at the time.

Shah Rukh replaces Salman in Aanand


L Rai’s next

Salman Khan was supposed to star in Aanand L Rai’s upcoming film but later the director approached Shah Rukh for it. Filming for Rai’s movie will start next year once SRK has finished shooting for Fan and Raees. He will, apparently, be seen playing the role of a dwarf in the movie. Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif are being considered for the female lead.

Fawad replaces

Saif in Mr Chaalu

Reema Kagti’s Mr Chaalu had Saif in the title role, but he walked out citing remuneration issues. Now Fawad Khan has been signed to feature in and as Mr Chaloo as the producers Farhan Akhtar-Ritesh Sidhwani and Reema felt that Fawad would be able to convincingly pull off the role of a suave charmer who cons women. Buzz is that the makers now plan to approach Kangana Ranaut for the lead role.

Kangana replaces

Shraddha in Rangoon

Shraddha Kapoor was supposed to be in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon but was replaced by Kangana Ranaut. Shraddha later on went to say she didn’t mind it as she loved Kangana and knows that she will do a good job. However, friends close to Shraddha said she was extremely upset about losing the film as it’s a very prestigious project co-starring Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan.

Farhan replaces Fawad in Battle of Bittora


Sonam and Rhea Kapoor’s Battle For Bittora has been mired in controversies. Fawad was signed by the Kapoor sisters after Khoobsurat, but the Pakistani actor backed out after he was told there were intimate scenes in the film. Farhan Akhtar has now been finalised to replace Fawad in the film. Sonam and Farhan have worked earlier in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and their pair was liked.

Sooraj replaces Tiger in Heer Ranjha


Tiger Shroff had been originally roped in for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Heer Ranjha after Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor opted out. But now as Tiger is busy with Nadiadwala’s Baaghi and Remo D’Souza’s A Flying Jatt, he had to opt out. Sajid decided to help his best friend Salman’s protégé Sooraj Pancholi by giving him Heer Ranjha. According to reports, Sooraj will be seen as a spy in the film.
