It seems to be a double celebration for several Bolly beauties as their birthdays coincide with their film releases

For actor Chitrangda Singh, Joker — in which she has done a special song — has been nothing less than a birthday gift for her, as it releases today, a day right after her birthday. But interestingly, it’s not just Chitrangda, who’s had a birthday gift in the form of a film, several other Bolly gals this year seem to be celebrating their birthdays with film releases. Actor Sonakshi Sinha admits that Rowdy Rathore that released on her birthday on June 2 has been the best birthday gift ever. It was a double whammy for actor Sridevi who celebrated her birthday with the unveiling of the first trailer of her comeback film English Vinglish. And the debutante director Gauri Shinde admits to planning the two events to coincide. “It was Balki and my special gift to Sridevi,” the director had said. And now in September, actor Kareena Kapoor will see her ambitious Heroine release on her birthday as well. According to insiders, Heroine’s director Madhur Bhandarkar admitted that initially, it was just one of the days they were looking at, but decided to lock it only when he learnt that it was Bebo’s birthday on September 21. “Since then many films have been preponed and postponed, but the release of Heroine has not been touched after it was postponed to coincide with her birthday partially for this reason alone,” insists the insider.
Trade analysts and industry observers now feel that what started as a chain of coincidences might actually become a trend in the future. “We’ve had instances in the past when birthdays have been celebrated with film releases. It is certainly exciting for the star and fans to have a film release on the birthday. And if it’s a hit then nothing can be more special than this perfect gift-of-a-film. It certainly makes it a happy birthday,” they say.
