Nawazuddin plays a tycoon in film on fake currency

    Nawazuddin Siddiqui will sport new look for his role in Sanjay Sharma’s Black Currency, which seeks to expose the business of counterfeit notes. He plays a shrewd, manipulative tycoon, a role that is a far cry from his earlier works, reveals the director.
    “My story is dramatic, yet realistic and he was just right for it. I had seen one of his earlier films and felt it’s challenging to cast Nawaz in this role,” informs Sharma. The actor says that his physique defies the typical notion of a businessman. “Unlike popular perception of the way a businessman is normally portrayed in films — a suave looking guy — my character is petite but sharp. He’s someone the common man will easily relate to. I have already begun workshops to prepare for the role.”
    Sharma narrates an incident when asked about how he chose the subject. “I had a fake `500 note. I could have filed a complaint but I chose to spend it. A few days later, I was at a bank to deposit cash and the cashier spotted a fake note and gave it back to me. Believe me, at that point, I felt like a criminal. I researched the subject and came across many mind-boggling facts and weaved a story around it. The script took three years to complete.”
    The film that has Minissha Lamba, Prashant Narayanan, Ravi Kishan, Rituparna Sengupta, Yuvraj Parashar and Kapil Sharma, will be shot in Europe, the Middle East and South East Asian countries.
