Reema did not allow Rani any makeup in Talaash

    Rani Mukerji, who plays Aamir Khan’s wife in Talaash, had to go for the ‘no makeup look’ for the role. She plays a housewife in the film and director Reema Kagti was very particular about how she wanted the actress to look. In fact, Reema insisted that Rani use no makeup at all.
    Says a source from the sets, “Though it is known as the ‘no makeup look’, there is some amount of makeup always used to even out the skin tone and to protect the skin from the harsh lights. Rani, too, took the same approach a couple of times. But each time Reema would check if there was any makeup on her face. A couple of times she even asked her to wash her face and take off all traces of makeup. The actress had no choice, but to give in to Reema’s demands. Her freckled skin is clearly visible in most parts of the film, but Rani had no problems shooting without any makeup on.”
    Reema says, “Rani’s character Roshni is dealing with extreme emotional upheaval. I felt that a woman in her state would not think too much about her appearance. Therefore, we went with a very casual and clean no makeup look. She is truly beautiful and so photogenic. She manages to look terrific even without makeup.”
