NO ONE CAN BE LIKE SALMAN KHAN

Actor Vivian D’ sena, whose character has shades of the star, says he has not copied him

The TV show, Madhubala takes inspiration from Bollywood, both on and off screen. The show incorporates many famous real life instances involving B-town stars. The most recent one has a striking resemblance to Salman Khan’s life. On the show, Vivian D’Sena’s character, superstar RK, mows down a man and has a police case registered against him, much like the Dabangg star’s infamous hit-and-run case in 2002. The makers have added many facets of Salman’s personality, to their lead character RK, including his unpredictable behaviour, love for bodybuilding and bikes.
Ask Vivian about the resemblance and he says, “Maybe there’s a reflection of him (Salman) in my role but I am not copying any actor. Perhaps the comparisons come because I now have muscles and Salman is famous for his great physique.”
RK’s personality is whimsical and unpredictable. In one scene, he urges a police inspector to do push-ups. “That’s a regular bad boy trait. RK is a superstar and he wouldn’t stoop to antics like shouting at or slapping someone. He is in control of his emotions and knows that one wrong reaction can ruin his career forever. He knows what he wants in life and how to punish people who have messed with him.”
A self-confessed Salman Khan fan, Vivian claims that he wasn’t asked to emulate the actor. “There is only one Salman and no matter how hard you try, no one can be like him. The only thing I was asked by the producers was to have a ripped body. After my last show, Pyaar Kii Yeh Ek Kahaani, I had gone on holiday where I ate a lot of junk food, partied with friends and eventually put on a lot of weight. I went up to 98 kg, so I had to lose 13-14 kg in two to three months for this role.”
A source from the show says, “To establish Vivian’s superstar character, real incidents from many famous lives were used as references. As the show is based on Bollywood, many aspects of the daily soap have hints of cult films and popular actors.”
