TDA takes over PDA
Taking a cue from the Shane-Liz romance, Public Display of Affection (PDA) takes on a whole new meaning as celeb couples indulge in mush online
After announcing to the world their engagement on a social networking site, Twitter, it would be safe to say that PDA i.e Public Display of Affection is soon giving way to TDA — Twitter Display of Affection. It's a trend that's kickstarted by the Warneys — Aussie cricketer Shane Warne and Hollywood actor Elizabeth Hurley; the two leave no opportunity to profess their love on every venue possible, including social networking sites. From the news of their affair to apparent engagement first broke out on Twitter. Shane's Twitter page is usually full of talks about or revolving around fiance Liz, and vice versa. A couple of days back Liz posted, 'About to make raspberry muffins for @warne888 and my son. And Ping Pong.'
Internationally, Golf player Rory McIlroy and tennis player Caroline Wozniacki's romance came to the forefront when the duo started exchanging 'Tweet nothings' on Twitter. Speculation about the two being a couple forced them to admit to their relationship and the two still continue to mention each other on Twitter. More recently, author Salman Rushdie decided to call his liason with a magazine editor Devorah Rose quits on Facebook after they were spotted at a cozy dinner together and Rose tweeted about it. He posted that he wouldn't be able to pursue what he just began and still hadn't come to terms with the recent collapse of his two-year old relationship. Hollywood actors Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher too took to Twitter to vent out their feelings when their marriage broke up.
Closer home, actor Lara Dutta and tennis star, Mahesh Bhupathi who tied the knot last year, announced to the world their engagement on Twitter. Lara who is now pregnant, posts Tweets about husband when he is away playing matches. She is often seen talking about him and congratulating on his victories at various tournaments.
