A fresh and fantastic start

Talent, looks and a desire to win were in abundance at the Clean and Clear Bombay Times Fresh Face 2012, which kickstarted with an enthusiastic response from college students

SATHAYE COLLEGE
Popular song Main Pareshan seemed the hot favourite with girls from Sathaye College at the Fresh Face contest. Aishwarya Vhatkar gyrated to the number and won the hearts of her peers as well as celebrity judge Zarine Khan who made a grand entry to the music of Character Dheela. The actress was seen enjoying every moment of the event — clapping and hooting for the participants. Aishwarya’s well-thought response in the question and answer round got her a big applause from the audience. Both she and first runners-up Apoorva said that they want to take up dance as a career. Winner Shashank Dwivedi, who dreamed of becoming a superhero as a kid, was chosen as the winner among the boys. — Seema Sinha RUIA COLLEGE
With a mission to win, the students of Ramnarain Ruia College put up impressive performances when the Fresh Face jury arrived in their college on day one. From the introduction round itself, the jury — Mandira Bedi and RJ Meera — started drawing a list of their favourites. And boy, did they have a tough time! The students put together a melee of performances, including one by Aishwarya
Patwardhan, who is
part of the Indian Whistlers Association. While participant Yogesh Waghchoure gave a classical performance to Breathless, Sidhi Hegde got the entire crowd cheering her belly dancing skills. But, the question and answer round became the decisive moment, after which Mahesh Halkeri and Prachi Makwana were chosen the winners. Sanjana Bhandari and Kushal Chheda were named the first runners-up. Mandira was seen enjoying herself so much, that after the competition ended, she even took tips on belly dancing from the students! — Garima Sharma
