RANDEEP HOODA IN KARAN JOHAR’S UNGLI
Randeep Hooda got both critics and the aam janta to sit up and take note of him in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, followed by his drunken cop act in Jannat 2. After sizzling on-screen with Sunny Leone in Jism 2 and sharing screen space with Kareena Kapoor in Heroine, the actor has bagged a Karan Johar film. Titled Ungli, the film will be directed by Rensil D’Silva. “It’s a matter of prestige to sign a Karan Johar film. I am extremely excited that I get to work with Sanjay Dutt. I have always admired him. I also get to work with Rensil, who wrote Rang De Basanti. It is a fun thriller without any frills.”Adding to his excitement is Murder 3. Says Randeep, “It’s great to be playing solo lead. People have loved the previous movies and I am sure they will like this one too.” Besides these, the actor also has Shooter, John Day and Pooja Bhatt’s next venture, Cabaret, in the pipeline. The actor has been shooting back-to-back, but has no complaints about his packed schedule. “I have been shooting everyday this year. But being busy is better because it indicates that more people are keen to work with you and the audience wants to see you.”
According to the actor, this is an important phase in his career. “I have realised that you can’t choose a role for the role itself. One has to look at the project in totality. If a well-made movie isn’t released on time, it loses its relevance. Today, the audience spends a lot of money on tickets. They want to know exactly what they are watching.”
Randeep, one of the sexiest actors in Bollywood, doesn’t believe in being inhibited in front of the camera. He says, “Just before its release, people said Jism 2 is too bold. But when it released, people said they expected more. Personally, I have never had any trouble with intimate scenes. I have never paid too much attention to it. As for the sexy tag, I am very thankful and comfortable with it.” And, with the tag comes female adulation. “Female adulation is always welcome; the more the merrier,” he concludes.
