Self-confessed foodie Shahid Kapoor reveals how he manages to keep fit despite his sweet tooth

Sweet nothings with Shahid

He is known for his chocolate-boy looks in Bollywood, but in real life it's his craving for chocolate that he strives to control. Self-confessed foodie Shahid Kapoor reveals how he manages to keep fit despite his sweet tooth

t takes a lot of restraint to resist temptation". Given his record in the industry, it's easy to jump to conclusions about what temptation Shahid Kapoor is talking about. In this case, it is food, more particularly, sweets. The actor, who has been voted the sexiest vegetarian, has a sweet tooth and finds it an arduous task to constantly resist the urge to indulge. "You have to discipline yourself if you wish to attain and maintain a certain fitness level," he says. The current eight-pack bod that he sports is testament to that willpower.
"I love desserts; can have them for starters, main course and dessert again!" he says. "Unfortunately, they are super-fattening. But more than that, it's about not being able to stop once I start eating desserts," he smiles.
When he does let himself go, Shahid loves his Indian mithais as much as he loves Swiss chocolates. Among exotic fare, fondue is what he relishes the most. But every binge is followed with an extra-strenuous workout.
Saying it with paranthas
"I enjoy simple, well-cooked meals — your daily ghar ka khaana," reveals the star. It is said that the way to a man's heart is through the stomach, a phrase that Shahid believes holds true for women as well. "I think women find men who cook hot and really dig that quality in a man." So what can he cook? "You name it and I can make that parantha for you, aloo, gobi, cheese…I am pretty good at it too."
As for eating out, it all depends on the company and the mood. "I am as comfortable eating at a roadside stall as I am at an exclusive restaurant," he says. During his nightly bike rides, he sometimes stops for a vada pav.
But when he has 'beautiful company', "I don't mind the works, flowers, wine and all."
