Queries raised by animal pet lovers

I have a young dog who is very wilful. We were advised by the trainer to ignore all bad behaviour by turning our backs on her, and making sure we walk in front of her so she does not think she is the alpha female. This worked for a while but as she is coming up to 18 months, she is becoming more insistent. I can’t walk to the car in the mornings without her trying to nip my feet and bite my ankles, or pull my jeans. Please help.
You need to correct rather than ignore bad behaviour. How is the dog ever going to know that its behaviour is wrong? She is doing everything to get your attention and she is successful. Biting is not to be tolerated. Every time she nips your ankles, grab her by the scruff of the neck, give her a shake while roaring in her face “NO BITING!” She needs to learn what behaviour is simply not going to be tolerated, and she needs to get lots of praise for the ones that are desired. She must work for every single thing she wants — from being petted to being fed to going outside or even playing.

I take my dog out to urinate at night but when I wake up in the morning i find that he has already urinated in the house. What should I do?
Obviously the dog needs to go out once more in the middle of the night as he is not able to hold his urine. It could also be a habit that needs to be broken. You need to clean the place with dettol or some really strong smelling harmless cleanser at night. The dog will stop urinating there.

My dog jumped out of the car window three days ago. She’s not badly hurt but is limping and whining. She is about 6 months old and weighs about 40 to 50 pounds. Shall I give her aspirin ?
Dogs are pretty stoic about showing pain, so if your dog is whining and limping three days later, it means she’s in pain. Your dog may well have a broken bone, or torn ligament after jumping from your car’s window. You need to have her examined by a vet. If she has a broken leg or torn ligament aspirin wouldn’t work in controlling the pain.

I have a 15 year old cat who cries and meows continually unless he is picked up. This is not much fun during the night. What can you suggest?
This kind of behaviour can sometimes be because of an underlying illness. It could also be a form of senile behaviour. It may also be that your cat is cold at night, or is nervous about a situation. Pay attention and analyse the cause specially if has just started.
