Imran's questions

Imran's questions
So now there's no PIL but an RTI query by the actor about the drinking age ban, here's dekko at what Imran Khan might ask in his query to the government

The much-publicised move of actor Imran Khan where he declared his moving court against the Maharashtra government's decision to up the drinking age limit to 25, has been dumped, it seems, now that his film Delhi Belly has moved out of theatres. So, what does Imran mean when he says that there's an interesting development about the RTI (right to information) query that he had made last month? Well, according to sources, he has raised a few questions with the government which points out that such a decision (to raise the drinking age from 21 to 25) might be unrealistic.
"In any case Imran was not going to file a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) since as an American citizen, that's a rarity. He has not given up his citizenship and holds on to his American passport. His RTI query has raised several points about the validity of the decision of the Mahashtra government," says a source.
But though Imran has actually now filed a request for a RTI query, he might face another roadblock to make the responses public.
"The information given to Imran might be privileged and he might not be entitled to declare it in the open. He has filed an RTI for himself and not on behalf of the entire country. So, the government or any individual can reserve the right to file a case against him if he intends to make it public," the source adds.
So what are questions that he has raised in his query? One of Imran's friends reveal that he has asked the basic question: On what grounds was the decision made? "He has told us that he has raised several questions about the decisions like why such a decision, when will it be imposed and how will it be imposed. He has also raised the query about the possible procedures to impose the drinking age ban," says Imran's friend.
And the answers might point out to the fact that the government is not planning to impose the ban soon. "It will have to go through several processes before becoming legislation. I don't know how much Imran will be able to declare it," the source says.
