Actor Kareena Kapoor hits out at an apparent 'cheap publicity ploy' hinting at a rumoured fight with actor Katrina Kaif

Both actors Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are extremely upset with rumours doing the rounds of late that they are fighting with each other over the importance given to their roles in actor Salman Khan's Eid release. While Kareena plays the lead role, according to rumours, what seems to be the point of contention here is a 20-second shot during the credit roll of the film where Katrina makes an appearance with Salman. Apart from the fact that this cameo has been promoted as an item number, rumours of Kareena being upset with Kat hogging all the limelight too have been circulated with it. Miffed with the buzz, both the actors, who incidentally share the same publicist, then asked their staff members to zero in on the person who started these rumours.

"Why should there be a problem between the two of us? Both of us do our own films. I am busy doing mine, while she has her share of work. Also, I am here to do my job," says a miffed Kareena. Pointing out that Kat was in fact present in the front row to cheer her on as she walked the ramp for designer Manish Malhotra's show at the recently concluded fashion week, she adds, "She is a lovely girl and we have always been friendly. Such talk is really strange."
Incidentally, sources looking into the matter suggest that the attempt to create a fight between the top two actresses in the industry is an inside job and in Kareena's own words a "cheap publicity gimmick".
"It's really terrible. People who know me are aware that I am not insecure. Besides, Katrina's song is just a rumour. She hasn't done any song. There's a 20 second-long shot in which she makes an appearance. I think it's just a publicity tactic," the actor says, adding that her role in the film is too strong for her to get upset over guest appearances. "My role is very strong. The girl is the soul of the film. If you take my character out of the equation, there's no movie," reasons Kareena.
