Tweeting can also make you earn big bucks. To include the advertising platform on Twitter in India for the first time, UTV Interactive has tied up with IZEA, a leading social media sponsorship company to bring www.sponsoredtweets.com.
The company will monetise celebrity Twitter accounts and allow brands to place sponsored ads inside their Twitter stream. The collaboration will help Indian advertisers to connect with IZEA's international clientele, that includes Kim Kardashian, P Diddy and Nick Cannon. An exclusive roster of Indian Twitter celebrities for potential sponsorship opportunities has been prepared. Sameer Pitalwalla of UTV, says that they are in talks with tennis stars Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna, along with actor Lara Dutta and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. “Our definition of celebs includes popular personalities across genres, be it Bollywood and south stars, socialites or even chefs. Even those who are not big names could be potential clients, depending on their number of followers. One can earn anywhere between 15 cents to $1,50,000 (R7-70 lakh) per tweet,“ says Pitalwalla.
