Actor Imran Khan says the good old Bollywood mainstream cinema will always be special to him |
One may think that after the success of Delhi Belly, actor Imran Khan may have the liberty of taking it easy, but the actor is relentlessly trying hard to prove himself with each of his films. The actor is of the opinion that each of his films matter. "It doesn't matter if your last film was a hit. There is no guarantee that your next film will be a hit because you have to prove yourself with each of your film. Not just me but every actor, however big or small may have to prove himself in each of his film. The pressure to deliver a hit is exactly the same with every film." While there seems to be the wave of new-age cinema taking over Bollywood with young film makers and actors, Imran says the good old 80s and the 90s mainstream cinema will always be special to him. "I like mainstream Bollywood films and I guess we should also stop feeling apologetic about our cinema. I enjoy over the top, loud, typical song and dance routines. It is something we are and for what we are known world over. We should be proud of our kind of cinema and I think there is nothing to be apologetic about our films." In the same breath he also adds he is playing a loud, extremely different character in his upcoming film. "This film is special to me because it is a typical Bollywood film. This is the first film where I have lip synched to songs and danced to choreographed steps. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I am absolutely looking forward to doing some more films like this." His co-star in the film is Katrina Kaif and Imran seems to be really impressed with her when it comes to her work and professionalism. He even went to the lengths of calling her his favourite co-star. "It is incredible of Katrina as someone who came into the industry, not knowing a word of Hindi; she speaks fluently. Her level of dedication is way above mine; In fact I think she is quite close to Aamir when it comes to being dedicated." |
