I last danced at my wedding: Sania Mirza
Sports celebrity couple Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik will make their debut on reality television with Nach Baliye 5. The show will air every Saturday and Sunday. Sources say the couple was as excited as nervous about dancing on national television for the first time.
Says Sania, the tennis sensation, “The last time I danced was for our wedding, with a choreographer who trained us. I am very bad (laughs). I like dancing, but I am shy. Shoaib is a better dancer. He loves it and when you love something, you automatically do it well. The show sounded fun and challenging. The best part of participating in it is that we got a chance to spend some quality time together"
Talking about the stint, Shoaib said, “My full concentration is on my performance. I hope we do well. Cricket is my passion, but with dance we will try to do our best.”
Sania also talked about the ordeal they faced — the controversies surrounding their marriage — and how constant surveillance by the media almost took a toll on their personal life. The hosts — Karan Wahi and Gautam Rode — made Sania and Shoaib reveal their pet names for each other. Shoaib, going against his image of a shy guy, sang a romantic Bollywood number for Sania. Rahul Mahajan, who is still learning the art of dancing, left everyone in splits as he taught a few moves to Shoaib.
Nach Baliye 5 airs tonight and tomorrow at 9 pm on Star Plus.
