MANISHA INSPIRED BY LISA RAY’S ‘CHEMO CUT’

The actress underwent the treatment, made famous by the Water star

During his cancer battle, Yuvraj Singh found inspiration in the story of (then untainted) cyclist Lance Armstrong. Manisha Koirala has gained the same hope through Lisa Ray’s successful fight against the disease. Like Lisa, Manisha, who’s undergoing treatment at a US hospital, has got herself a ‘chemo cut’ and can’t stop heaping praises on the Water star. Manisha’s chemotherapy began on Wednesday.
“Got a chemo cut...thank u Lisa ray fr this term...in fact, thank you or your blog, thank you for ur honesty n boldness...god bless you,” Manisha wrote on her social networking page the other day. Lisa was diagnosed with multiple myeloma on June 23, 2009. But her never-saydie spirit paid off, as Lisa was cured after a difficult battle against the disease and went on to marry beau Jason Dehni in October, last year. Not keeping mum about her trying times, Lisa started chronicling her cancer experience on the blog — The Yellow Diaries — where she even joked about her baldness. After a trip to Rishikesh in 2010, Lisa had written on her blog: “Passed many
shaven pilgrims... In this city of mystics, mendicants and seekers, my tonsured head blends in.” When the actress was in India for store appearances, she spoke about stuffing wigs in her bag. “Not to pretend. Not for approval’s sake. But because it occurs to me that my scalp may be shiny. Don’t want to blind any photographers during our store promotions,” she had written.
Like Lisa, Manisha, who is putting up in an apartment near Manhattan, has taken life in good spirit. Says her manager, Sabrato Ghosh, “She’ll be in the US for the next six months. Her parents and brother are with her. She is in good health. In fact, she asked me to wish everyone in India a Happy New Year.”
Real heroes never cease to inspire.
