Kishwer & Suyash bid adieu to old names

    Love makes you do strange things. Telly actor Suyyash Rai has changed the spelling of his name — he even adopted a new surname — at the insistence of his actress girlfriend Kishwer Merchant and a few other friends. Lending her boyfriend full moral support, even Kishwer has changed the spelling of her name for the second time. The decision, they believe, will lead to better career opportunities.
    The couple, who will complete two years of togetherness on January 9, is busy with the legal formalities involved in the name-change process.
    Says Suyyash Rai, earlier named Suyash Kumar, “I never believed in astrology or numerology. But Kishwer and my friends suggested that I try and see if my luck improves. Every actor gets his name numerologically corrected. Now, I use Rai and have dropped Kumar. My dad uses both.”
    Kishwer adds, “I changed the spelling of my name from Kishwar to Kishwer sometime back. I have now been asked by a numerologist to write my surname along with my father’s initial. So, I spell my name as Kishwer S Merchantt. It was my mother who prompted me to go ahead with the change. Let’s see how it pans out now.”
