RIGHT PLACE RIGHT TIME — OLLY MURS SONY MUSIC

RIGHT PLACE RIGHT TIME — OLLY MURS SONY MUSIC; 599 Pop: Olly Murs proves he’s the most successful product of talent show The X Factorwith his third pop record. Murs appeared on the show back in 2009, and walked away with the runner up title, losing to Joe McElderry, whose career hasn’t been as fruitful as this charismatic 28-year-old’s. Murs slides into pop powerhouse Maroon 5 territory with lead single Troublemaker that has a catchy melody and funky hooks. The inspiration continues with the soul-funk bassline of Hey You Beautiful. His next muse is Cornershop; the addictive guitar line of What a Buzzis reminiscent of their retro hit Brimful of Asha. Army of Two is a brass-pomping anthem that could well be the next We Are Young. Title track Right Place Right Time blends easy-on-the-ear piano riffs with roomy beats. The best tracks on the album are the ones Murs co-wrote with Ed Drewett — for instance, the bells-and-chimes-assisted Dear Darlin’ is heartfelt and emotional. Right Place Right Time has a sunny appeal that goes beyond teenyboppers.
